114060 vs. 116600 (Need to make room)
It's time to let one go and make room for something else but I'm having a hard time deciding. Both are really great, so I wanted to open it up for some thoughts.
I like the 116600 because of the lugs, the crown guards and the typeface used on the "ft" and "m." The minute markers throughout the bezel are also a plus along with the raised crystal like the older Rolex watches of the 1960's and 1970's. It is a near perfect modern day Rolex (excepting the end links). The 114060 would be perfect if the lugs and crown guards weren't so thick. But the symmetry... its all class. I bought the watch for my father and I'm the original owner, having paid cash with the paperwork. Had I known more about watches I would have gotten the Sea-Dweller back in Feb. 2017 (when you could still walk in and buy). He wore the watch every day until he couldn't anymore because his wrists swell. So I've held on to it for sentimental reasons and even he is telling me to part with it. But I'm torn because the connection and the original paperwork. So, which one to keep? The 114060 or the 116600? |

Keep the 116600 and sell the 114060. Discuss with your father what would be a better fit? I see a bright future for the 116600!

I'd keep the Sea-dweller.
It will be relatively easy to pick up a Sub again at some point in the future. Not so easy with the SD4K. |

I don’t understand the wrist swell issue ... it has a glidelock which is purpose built to accommodate a dive suit or changing wrist sizes

I’d keep the SD4k, but I’m extremely biased, as it is my all-time favorite watch.

Gonna have to agree with everyone else and recommend you keep the 116600, it’s just so special.

Just confirming what I already know.
Like something out of the Avengers: Infinity War when Thanos has to go for the soul stone. “The hardest choices require the strongest wills.” But the Sea-Dweller really is something special. It’s the sentimental connection to the 114060; my daughters and I gave it to him. He wore it every day and night for a while. But, he stopped wearing it a while ago and wouldn’t fumble with the glide lock without help because he’s older. We looked at each over coffee the other week and talked about watches. I bought the 114060 because my father has a gold Longines pocket watch which will go to my older brother, so it was a way of having a watch come back to my family. Still though, even he says the Sea-Dweller is the way to go. Just a shame that I didn’t buy that first. I knew enough to go no-date, but didn’t know the case sizes were different along with other subtle differences. A book on dial typefaces changes like the fat “ft” in the 114060 and the long “ft” on the 116600 would be welcomed. Something like “Moonwatch Only” that just catalogs differences in references. |

Sub is my favourite model. But you can’t beat that SD, nor will u be able to easily find it again. Regret not getting one a couple years ago!

I've got both also and am holding onto both right now as they are very different for me. But I've got my eye on the SD43 and at that point it might be overkill with the three. What are you making room for?
