I've gone mainly vintage.

Still on the wait list for a 2018 BLRO though which will be vintage by the time I get one

There are multiple BLROs on the forums in good to NIB condition, ranging from $16k to 18.75k. I’m sure they keep just as good time as DavidSW’s

I just can’t get behind paying twice msrp for a watch, I understand supply and demand and the whole situation that we’re currently in with the market but not for me. It’s too bad because I think the watch is a stunner at the right price point but not for 18-20k.

I had a funny thought about all this pricing nonsense - what if Rolex decided to produce half as many sports models as it did the year before until it got to one watch a year in each line? How far would it go before people lost interest? 100k for a Batman? 200k? Lol.

Curious - you'd sell it now? Didn't you just get it?

I buy and sell watches as a hobby so I don’t get too attached. Some of my watches are definitely meant to be kept and others are definitely just “inventory.” But at a certain price yes I would sell my Pepsi. I might not get another one right away but I’m sure over time I would be able to get one near where I got this one. To be clear this isn’t my job or a business, it’s just a way I’ve been able to offset the cost of the hobby a little.

And to think that you could pick up a Royal Oak 15400ST for the same money...

And you are only talking about a SS Rolex. Same is happening with gold Nautiluses, so there is a ton of money about and a Rolex is very cheap in comparison so can't see this momentum changing.

Not that my AD or Rolex necessarily care, but the madness has turned me off on the brand. I’ve got some coveted pieces and i’ll enjoy them but no more chasing watches for me.

Not really. My AD has not received ANY SS profesionals in over six months. Granted he is a small AD but compared to what he got in 2017 and 2018 the last six months is are a real drought.

And, in Chrono24 there used to be about 250 up for sale of this reference, now down to 178 units worldwide. Some of the really reputable sellers in Germany asking well over 21K for one.

+1 and you will have a far superior time piece. You can get an AP Chrono for same price as the BLNR and a couple grand more than the BLRO is going for grey and it runs circles on any Rolex SS model. I really just don't understand the craziness over Rolex.

Each to their own and all that, but there is absolutely nothing about the Royal Oak that I find appealing.

So many better options for that money. As others have said, its now in entry level AP territory

I did not start this thread for us to start bashing DavidSW. Guys, he buys expensive too. And for those thinking he is the one driving the market higher, take a look at these other trusted sellers, one of them in Germany.

I wouldn’t say it’s turned me off the brand, but I’m sure not chasing these watches like some are.

Agreed, No reason to bash anyone or be negative but if anyone else has noticed these watches just sit on Chrono and other sites. Some have been up forever. People aren't lining up to pay double retail because if they were there wouldn't be any listed. It's mostly a pipe dream for the grey's and other people flipping. Sure some unfortunate newbies or people that have money to burn pay those prices but I believe for the most part people who are into this hobby are a bit smarter than that. I could see a couple of grand over retail but double for a Rolex watch that is not "rare" is insanity.

Something is going on, I have seen prices jump at the other sites also. This is common for all SS profesionals. The market is going up. For some reason ADs are complaining that the watches are not being sent out like before.

And the first one for $21.75 doesn't even have box and papers. What a joke price. No one is paying that. LOL

I hope that Rolex buys it, researches who sold it and bans them.

Sorry, just my "righteous indignation" flaring up

Thank you for sharing this. It's now known as Rolex grand plan of gravitating from SS sport to DJ/PM/TT

Not wearing any sportie models Rolex anymore, except for my 2011 DSSD.After it goes in for a service and a rebrush for a like new look,it will also go into storage.
They are just worth too much to wear .

Will be enjoying DJ41s/DJ II/ IWC/Jaeger leCoultre and Panerai
