Seiko Prospex SPB143 / SBDC101

Fellow watch people I highly recommend these new Seiko’s. This watch will be a great beater and travel watch (whenever that happens again).

Proportions are magnificent, has all the Seiko DNA of a 007 or 009 but more refined. I went with the simple dial more like the original diver it was born from. Looks cool in the sun and shade!

Congratulations! Awesome watch. Enjoy. Kinda expensive for a "beater" if you ask me!

I have a deposit on a SP145. Just waiting for the call.

Congrats on the soon SP145!!

Agreed it is expensive for a beater and I will treat it kindly. I tell you what, after having it on wrist for a day it certainly doesn't feel like a beater

How is bracelet? Seems like the first thing we do with seiko is change to another strap option, myself included

For me it is so hard to like any bracelet after wearing Tudor (with rivets DP ) and Rolex SS bracelets .

HOWEVER, this one so far seems not too bad. I prefer it on a NATO but plan try this one a bit.

Thanks DP .

I have the BBGMT and love looking at your pics of that watch! It to me is a true modern day classic. Your takes here on the forum are a welcome read sir.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm wearing my BB GMT as I write. Every time I slap it on my wrist I can't help but relive the same euphoria I experienced when I first bought it. It just has so many great elements that come together to create, just as you say, a modern day classic. It doesn't hurt that I've not experienced the dreaded date issue.

Your new Seiko brings a lot of great elements together on it's own. Classic design, modern construction, and all at a great price allow both brands to shine.

Congratz! Sofar I have been able to keep my core collection to a minimum, not counting under 300 dollar watches but this one really tempts me!

Next time I go to Japan, I will have a look in person and high likely I will cave in as soon I'm touching it.

ps. I also saw the black/brown gilt, oh boy I'm in trouble...I can't decide between the grey or the brown gilt one, I like them both!
