I fancy a different kind of Panerai

When Mrs Van D is away, a naughty Ruud will play. I would love one of these on my desk, I mean who wouldn’t? An absolute complete, utter waste of money but, and it’s a huge but with a capital B, they’ve just had a price adjustment. Yep, against the current trend of increases, these babies have dropped by about 40% and they’re down to S$4,300 (£2,350 US$3,170).

Alas, Mrs Van D has put the blockers on a purchase. If she comes out to Singapore in four weeks and finds one of these in the house then she’ll pull down my Alan’s and grab my Jacob’s and drag them over my head!

The California dial is my favourite (651, I think). So, worth the risk?

They say it's sometimes easier to ask forgiveness than to ask. So, 651 is the one to get, IMHO, plus it's cheaper than a 372.....

Maybe have it sitting on the table with the RG submersible next to it waiting for Mrs. Ruud?

I might get away with $4,300 if I go into hiding for a few weeks but $38k for the 684? No. Just, no. I’d be Ruud Van Dead. No discussion, no negotiation, no appeal.

I like all three and if the funds were available I would buy one. I understand with the wife but there are some things that are going to happen and this might be one.

Such a waste of money, but they are so cool looking. I'd go with the California dial as well.

Then I’d have to get a new watch box and fill it. No, I have two full boxes and I’m happy with my lot

Buy a cheap SCOOT ticket to HKG. These table clocks are sold there at approximately or not more than SGD3,100.00 depending on the prevailing exchange rates. If based on today's rates from the Arcade money changers, it is SGD100.00 = HKD579.00

Listed price HKD22,000.00 less 20% = HKD17,600.00/5.79 = SGD3,035.00 only

Thanks for the heads-up, that's a good negotiating tool if I decide to pull the trigger

Just walked in Panerai in KL and they have no stock at the moment but can offer 10800 RM - 3400 Sing without any nagotiations.

If pressed they can probably do 3100 Sing as in HK. Then you could claim extra 5 % tax at the aiport.

You may use it while speaking to Panerai on Orchard.

Man, I just love those. Hard to justify the price (when that would buy a very cool wrist watch), but I just love them. I might make a silly move yet.

I think they are gorgeous. I saw one in Selfridges London a few weeks ago. Just a lovely object. My favourite however is the Panerai wrist watch. I would love to have one of those in my pocket on a chain.
