Users vouching for someone / dodgy deal
Hi folks,
Something fishy going on here. I posted a wanted add on watchuseek last night for an Omega aqua Terra skyfall seamaster. I was contacted by someone there over night who when I checked their profile they were banned from there. They sent me an email with watch for sale and pictures. See email below. I then asked if they could provide any references and they supplied the following users from this forum. He sent me this note Good to hear from you, You can contact Tanner, fidalgobay, WatchCoalition Via private message about me. Just tell them Nurav819. I can go a bit low of my price. I can let it go for 2500 gbp. Get back to me, So we can proceed. Thanks I joined this forum and messaged each user. They each in turn messaged me back and vouched for him. I was almost at point where I was going to proceed with the deal but felt it was way too risky to do bank transfer. I could get a cheap flight to Glasgow and suggested that. Initially he seemed to agree to this but has gone quiet. Interestingly I did some googling and found the exact same pictures he had sent me on e Bay (I need more posts to provide link) The date on the card even matches. So obviously something very fishy going on here. Who are Tanner, fidalgobay, WatchCoalition and why are they vouching for someone who seems to be less than genuine? Thanks, Mick --------- Forwarded message --------- From: Nurav819 Date: Tue 15 Jan 2019, 10:31 Subject: Re: Aqua Terra To: my email Hide quoted text For sale is Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Mid Size Chronometer in like NEW condition. Once I have ten posts I post screen shots of the private messages. I've no reason to make this up.

What does trf mean? The Rolex forum? The users that vouched for seller are users or supposed users on this forum

my own two cents, if it is taking you this amount of work and time to verify the seller...I would move on. Find the watch somewhere else my friend.
if a deal is not straightforward and you get one a gut feeling (which you are having now) that this is suspect, just move on. You are talking about 1000s of dollars - buy the seller :) |

Well micks,
I don't know how they hijacked my PM ability, but they are no one I know and I sure don't live in Scotland. In having a look at the address, it appears to be a flat in a working class part of town. Like Gtecko said......move on brother, there's no watch to be had there.

Regardless, read the TRF rules and abide by them is my best suggestion. We don’t accept disputes that were started somewhere else. By now I believe the issue should be closed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I'm not disputing anything..I just wanted other users to be aware of actions happening on this forum that may lead to fradulent deals happening. I very nearly bought this do called watch mainly on the strength of pms I received from three users on this forum. Perhaps all three accounts were hijacked but I'd urge caution in dealing with any of the three users I listed or any emails received from the seller..

I disagree totally, if TRF members PM's are being hacked, I think we should know. If unscrupulous fraudsters are able to send bogus endorsements through legit TRF members is not a concern of yours, to others here I am sure it is.
