Tudor 7020/0 Date Day Turn O Graph Jumbo
Hi lads,
I picked up a Tudor 7020/0 Date Day Turn O Graph Jumbo recently. What do you think? I am a bit concerned about the dial, unfortunately this was an impulse buy for $670USD. Did I screw up or was this a good deal? I figured, since it came with the 78360 bracelet and 380 end links, there was the full cost of the watch right there. I mean it has a few pings here and there and possibly a bent clasp. Incidentally the clasp has been engraved, however it appears to be quite shallow. I will know more when it arrives... |

I wouldn't worry about future dings and scratches. :) That's the 'most loved' 7020 I've ever seen. That folded link on the bracelet is interesting as well. I love this kind of stuff, what a relic! :)

Ah, I see, it's an older clasp on the 78360, what a mess! I love it!

I see your from Oz. When I first saw your 7020 it reminded me of the early days of eBay when old Rolex came tumbling in from all over the world. It was intoxicating really. :) No offense but the roughest most beat watches all came from Australia.
I assume once they disappeared into the outback service was rare and minimal. So many of them had holes drilled in the case back to try and use non Rolex case openers. One wag suggested the holes were there to squirt motor oil in there in lieu of servicing. Great fun and great times. :) |

No offense at all, this 7020/0 was well loved, that's for sure.

My 7020/0 came from Australia many moons ago. It's certainly well loved. Gonna be interesting to see how much it can be cleaned up with a little care.

Hi Dan, hope our new friend keeps us posted on his progress, several different ways to go, all interesting. :) The dial corrosion is concerning. I keep an idle eye on loose dials and they are rare. Only one I know of is that black one that's been around forever at 800us.

It's a machine, there has to be a way. Tommy posts as R.W.T. or Rolex Watch Time. He's fairly active on the forums and has been a mod at VRF for ten years. I would call him a forensic watchmaker, he's able to mentally catalogue parts and is not afraid to do whatever is necessary to get an old soldier back in the battle. He's done some amazing things with stuff from the teens up.
I'm not saying he can fix your watch but he has a curious mind and bulldog determination and sees our little treasures as a puzzle to be solved. |

I think it's a great-looking watch and congratulate you on your acquisition. I don't want to hijack your thread, but if you or anyone discovers where I might find the appropriately long hands for these, I'd be grateful for a PM: I have one that I'd love to wear more, but my hands are so screwed up that they'll scratch the dial for sure. I share other respondents concerns regarding the corrosion visible, but the look is great, no matter what.

Hi, no problems at all.
I will be taking this to my watchmaker in a week and I will update this thread with his assessment and hopefully some glorious after pictures too. How was the price, did I get a good deal?? |

Also, why have I not heard about this piece before, it has a relatively modern case size, day date function in SS with a rotating bezel. I mean this watch is just amazing. If I cant get this one looking good, the search will commence for a better example.

As long as there isnt a lot of rust and corrosion on the case and movement when the case back is removed, then you did very well on the price.

It's horrible. Nobody should have a watch in that condition, even people like me that like watches that were ridden hard and put away wet.
So to make your transition easier I will begrudgingly give you a $100 over what you paid for it in exchange for that watch. (Seriously, I would give that to you, 'cause you got a great deal on a fun watch ; ) and it is worth every penny you paid and then some)

When you get yours serviced it would be fantastic if your WM could get a pic of the offset pinion (Dan ?) in place and by itself. |

Amazing watch. Can't go wrong at that price.
DP, won't a Rolex SC touch your 7020 movement? |

I will have this on Monday, so I will try and get the caseback off and show you some pictures. Don't worry, you lads seem to be the only people who know about this watch, so I will definitely include you in this process.
I am still stunned there was a large (39mm) Date Day watch with a rotating bezel made by Rolex out there in the world and I didnt know about it. This is literally my perfect watch. |

I have the 7017/0 with the smooth bezel. No slouch, either. Same movement as yours, I believe.
