He probably could have said 2-3 sentences and been fine but he went on for paragraphs about how bad it was. It must be frustrating to prepare of many months and get disconnected 3 out of 4 times, but it's not life or death or making a paycheck with it.

How cool would it be to race virtually against someone like Max? Who else on the F1 grid would do this? Maybe Lando, George Russell, Albon?

With Chinese GP not replaced, that makes two 1 month gaps in the calendar now. I would have liked to have seen Turkey, Portomao or Mugello back on the calendar to replace the China weekend.

Notice how F1 put the SPA weekend as the tail on the summer season and not after the summer break? Probably to avoid any possibility of harsh weather as they did a couple years ago when the race wasn't run.

Can we get any sillier?

https://www.motorsportweek.com/2023/...ulayem-remark/

But the story may have merit in its final quote from Liberty’s letter to F1 trams and FIA.

“To the degree that these comments damage the value of Liberty Media Corporation, the FIA may be liable as a result.”

F1 CEO in Carson City, NV

I tuned into the Governor of Nevada's State of the State speech last night. I was surprised to see him introduce Stefano Domenicali after speaking a little bit about the November F1 race in Las Vegas.

I'm not going because of the hideous pricing, but it was kinda cool to see someone like that in such a small town.

Random thought, but can Sky sports stop having annoying Rosberg doing commentary and get Raikonnen instead.

Much shorter, to the point, and honest. He can even have a drink while doing it.

+1 for Kimi. For pure Sports Entertainment like F1, Kimi (including drinking) would be far more honest AND entertaining.

DO IT! DO IT NOW!!!

Mercedes will be pleased now that Red Bull is going to partner up with Ford.
They must have lost it in Austria.

Truly do hope F1 2023 gets more silly and entertaining. Let's hope the driver's outfits and helmets get more interesting too.

Will the FIA bail out from F1 and stick with other racing leagues?

-- or --

Will the Middle-East or the USA launch its own governing body as there are many races happening within their territory nowadays? Maybe this is all just a power play to (eventually) get full control of F1 without the 'undesirable outside forces' and overhead costs of an independent governing body like the FIA?

i could be wrong of course, but please keep it entertaining. We need more pre-race fun too, it's gotten reeeeeeally borrrrrring since the rapper girl thing. Can we bring her back for starting grid interviews? ;-)

Am curious about your thoughts, if the FIA is removed from F1 for a different governing body will Rolex still sponsor races? When will we (finally) see the teams leave F1 for a new league? How many teams will be 'allowed' to enter?

It's an interesting question, but let me answer with a question: Why not? Rolex sponosors the races, and not the owners/rulers of F1. If it will be an independent series or even owned by Saudi Arabia, it will not changes the fun. Or at least I hope so, that it will not depend on the owners.

I have more fear that if this kind of behaviour about the possible new investors will continue, then Rolex will have enough from this puor-parler, as it could undermine their reputation. However I don't think that it will get to this point as for me it seems more a non-deliberately started verbal debate about a usually hidden bargain.

Excellent points Inc and agree. As long as the F1 entertainment league's reputation is not (overly) tarnished / shamed, Rolex sponsoring great human endeavors is a wonderful thing. Truly do admire Rolex for doing so very much for many great achievements.

From everything I've read, Ford is only going to be badging the engines and the 2026 P/U will still be produced by Red Bull powertrains.

Honda execs must be fuming about now with the intellectual property they've provided to Red Bull in collaberation to make their P/U and then turn around right after a double WC and sign with Ford. I don't expect any "new ideas" to be forthcoming from Honda as they are still listed as an engine supplier for 2026 and beyond.

I think, this list means the current and the approved manufacturers. So in my opinion this listing only means that Honda is a supplier now, and by they may be left the F1 in 2026, or it also may be they will stay. However as the new engines from then will be based on a different grounds, so I think it will not be a problem for them. The reason in my opinion is simple, If they decide to stay with F1 then they will simply not share the new engine's details with RB, but on the other hand if they will left the series, then there will be nothing to share, because in this case they will not invest for the engineering of a new engine at all.

Not this year - the contract is fairly solid.

Not really possible - there are almost 1,000 pages of rules and requirements. From whence would those two groups get rules to operate the races? And there are pending pre-paid contract deposits.

I think Rolex would go with Europe under any circumstances - and Globally for eyeballs. Rolex’s deal is with Formula One rather than FIA. FIA governs the racing and sanctioning but isn’t allowed to control the commercialization.

Not applicable - not going to happen methinks.

You posted half the story. A win was the less important factoid methinks.

A more meaningful context is that he was one of the engineers who launched the first turbocharged F1 car ever. A driver and an engineer…

1.5 litre turbocharged engine, and a car that was a beauty, too.

Tbf Honda executives have a dreadful history of pulling out at exactly the wrong time .. talk about clutching failure out of the jaws of success..

The decision to walk away now looks like a rash move - originally done to create an image of slashing costs by a weak CEO. He was later replaced and the new CEO wants to keep a presence.

The Ford thing isn’t any better methinks. Any shuffle on mahogany row in Detroit (if a predicted recession causes cost cuts) will have Ford beating a path to the exit.

Looking at the latest offerings from the various teams, and the one thing strikes me in particular is, the whole "exposed carbon for weight savings" is ruining the visual appeal of the cars for me. Everyone seems to be mostly black with a splash of color.

Might just be me though, I've been wrong before.
