D'oh! Thought of that as soon as I posted. Always helps to ask for fresh perspectives though.

if a black dial like the 112 or 176, i definitely prefer the brightness of steel over titanium. however, Ti with a brown/chocolate dial is pretty stunning (for example, 36, 55, 56, 116, 118, 232, 562, 564).

I like Ti. It's warmer looking and not as blingy. Also lighter on the wrist.

I'd go with the 112...and ironically, I was just going to post my 112 in the TRF classifieds tomorrow.....Box, Papers and 4 straps.

I would pick 176, only if you can live with a few dings or scratches. I had 176 and 177 before, and they will scratch or ding if you blow air to them. :p
And I found the brushed finish to be so-so, the finish looks kinda rough up close for the price. I would pick 112 if its my money. :)

Out of these two, the 112, but I'd take a 111 over both of them.

Pulled the trigger yesterday on a 510. I LOVE the base, but I also like the slimmer case of the new Luminors and I thought the 510 looked more balanced than the 560. Should get it on Tuesday...this is my first Luminor and I can't wait!

Is the weight difference between the Ti and SS considerable? Wonder if anyone can shed some light on the weight of both.

I have both 111 and 177,I do find Ti watches to be more comfortable especially if you wear it for longer period of time (10+ hours)

I have a 176 and chose it because of the weight. It is my gym watch and I do not consider it a scratch magnet. I also like the matte finish.

My first Panerai was a 176. Beautiful watch. Ti is easy to maintain with a scuff pad. Looks great with a variety of leather straps.

Hi All, looking on the UK Panerai site i cant see the PAM00112 or the PAM000 which i believe are almost the same with the 112 having a sandwich dial and open back rather than the 000 with a closed back and logo on the face?
Are they known as something else or is it now a watch that isn't in production anymore/at the moment? ive seen a few 112's (i think) on chrono 24 for around £3.5k which seems to be about £1k cheaper than Boutique, they are labelled as Panerai Luminor Base Logo Acciaio 44 mm - is that the right version? Would appreciate any guidance in making sure i get the right version and locating one either through boutique or through AD/Grey!! |

I've had lots of the bettarini cases in Ti & SS . . but it's the Ti I prefer. I love the properties of the metal. Yes, it will scratch quite easily, but they can heal themselves over time (through surface oxidization) or very easily you can give the watch a complete brushed make over with a couple of cheap products.
I've owned a 176 twice, 177, 240 (tobacco dial) . . all long gone now but I've considered picking one up again recently ..

In this case I'd go with the 112.
