Threads being closed.

Any idea why my threads keep getting closed? I'm asking for a "street value" price in our current market for a specific used rolex model and I've now posted a thread like this twice in 72 hours and both have been removed in minutes with no message from an admin or moderator to let me know what I'm doing wrong.

HELP?

I'd guess you can't ask about the street value.

You might simply contact some of the sellers, and ask them through PM about the value of the item

It's easy, when it's closed you have asked the wrong question.

Why ask for strret value on Internet? I guess it's better to ask somenoe on the street.

Should he have asked for the internet value?

As long as he doesn't ask for Canal Street value.

Maybe we can give the chap a weight value chart to help.

I think a Submariner is worth $64 per gram when the USD is .74 to the Euro.

If the AUD is down than that's when it gets tricky.

I'm just trying to determine what a fair asking price is for my watch as I've decided to sell it. I didn't try to sell it in this section, I didn't say anything about taking offers or how to contact me, just asked what others have paid for this model as-of-late and what would be a fair range to accept for it. Seems odd that both threads were closed without any PM from a moderator as to why or what I've done wrong. So.... if you have any input on my question please reach out to me. It's a GMT II-C SS.

So is asking for a street value is wrong? I saw some threads people asking what the value of their watches are? Just want to make sure I understand this.

I think what you meant to say is " I want to sell my watch someone pm me an offer because I dont meet the requirements to post in the for sale section"

NOPE don't intend that at all. I dont plan on selling it on here - I want to know how much to list it for here locally - I don't want to ship this, only in person so that obviously removes the idea of listing it here.

I didn't close the threads, but I'd guess it was thought to be a veiled attemp at selling.

The forum has rules regarding sales, one of which is a set number of posts. This is done as at least an attempt to protect the members from the "one hit wonders" that fly in and fly out.

There are several ways to assess value to a piece. Doing homework gives a realistic price range given condition.

This was my attempt of doing homework :) Asking those that have purchased this model recently how much they spent! Sheesh it's tough on these boards I tell ya.

Hang in there Adam. Just PM a few guys, and ask what your particular watch with items is worth. Condition, year, Boxes & Papers, service history, your idea of it's parting price, and the fair market price.

Look on our for sale section, Timezone.com on the sales corner, Ebay, and watchuseek for a ball park idea.

I wouldn't ask in an open thread due to the rules

Neither did I close the thread; only because I didn't see it.

We close them without smugness.

So, your "homework" is asking somebody else to do the work for you....... kind of like getting the "Cliff's Notes" version.........

It seems to me that 15 minutes of looking at sales and ads, you could arrive at a reasonable conclusion as to the street value....

I'll agree with what others have said...... perhaps you are hoping for somebody to pm you with an offer.........
