Buying advice

Hi all,

Very similar to another thread on here, I am looking to buy my first AP, really prefer the 42mm Roo with ceramic bezel and have tried it on today. Fantastic looking watch.

Question is shall I pull the trigger at retail or will it come down in price as other Aps have ?

I know this is hard to judge but any advice would be much appreciated.

The watch is the 2018 red and black ROO 42mm

Thanks

If you like it and can get it at retail, go for it. I haven't seen that model sell for much less than retail on the secondary market.

From an AD price isn't going down so are you talking about buying new vs used?

As AD's get eliminated discounts disappear too. Paying retail for a new watch is the new normal. If you can't get a discount then BNIB second hand prices won't be less. For a true used watch though, sure.

Neither have I, not in London anyway, can maybe pick one up for 1000 less than retail pre owned.

Just undecided as always seem to see Aps a lot less than retail.

AFAIK you can still get it at Harrods at the airport, check if they have it. I bought my 15400 that way, flew to brussels, flew back an hour later and got airport pricing. Its only Tudor and Rolex you need to leave the EU for so no customs issues with the rest if you stay within the EU. Saving effectively like 17% was worth an afternoon.

Probably could have just walked out of the airport too and skipped the flight, but i didn't

Can't see prices falling much if at all, greys will push to keep the ceramics price up so demand needs to fall off or AP issue too much stock, unlikely.

Harrods has one in the main store FWIW. I just saw it. Ask them if they will transfer it to the airport

They may not based on the retail price as its not super expensive (by Harrods standards). However they do it sometimes so i don't know what the criteria is.

Days of discount are gone for the most part. Consider yourself lucky to pay retail.

I agree with masterserg - I havebtn seen APs been discounted for a long time. If you pay retail, be happy!

Sorry, may have not explained myself, I'm not looking for a discount from the AD. I wondering whether to pay retail now or wait for the price to drop for a pre-owned one.

I think the fall is fair value now, maybe 10-20%, so you either get it brand new from an AD at retail or you pay less but for a used one, so I'd go new, don't like my APs used.
