Very Original 1806
I came across this 1806 the other day. It is in amazing shape! Still has original bronze reverse gears, all purchase papers and passport wallet. This one is cool!!

Great. Does that say J. Boseck, Calcutta on the dealer stamp?

Boseck's used to do co-branded Rolex dials years ago. They're still open in Calcutta (now Kolkata) I believe. Cooke & Kelvey was another Indian AD that put their company name on Rolex dials.

^^^^ In 1953 J. Boseck & Co. presented a Oyster Perpetual Rolex watch to Sir Edmund Hillary after his successful ascent of Mount Everest. It was inscribed "To Sir E. Hillary From Bosecks Calcutta"
Very good AD with a lot of history! I will look for something with the Boseck dial, sounds very cool. |

What a mechanism. It's really astonishing. I wonder how long it took to make this watch.

Not NOS, but excellent condition, IMHO, although more photos would be needed to fully judge. Was it originally sold on the strap? |

I don't own the watch, a dealer owns it locally.

Very Original 1806
Beautiful.
I always thought hand style was supposed to match dial furniture like hour markers. Alpha hands with baton hour marks is unusual. Could this be original? Lovely looking piece nonetheless. Sent from my cracked, broken hand wound phone. IG @morning_tundra |

I think it’s been redialed. But a beautiful watch. Lugs show it prolly was only worn on a strap - no endlink marks on them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

No one will ever make their fortune in vintage Rolex by listening to me but I believe the dial to be original. I blew up the pic and see no evidence of a repaint, Remember this is around 1960 and things were not as structured as today. The hands and markers seeming to be mismatched to us might not have appeared so to them.
The striking color of the lume on the dial and hands tells me it may have been in a very dark place for a very long time. I believe that is a time capsule DD most likely just like it left the mothership all those years ago. EDIT: Found another 1806 with the same markers and hands... |

What is value on this watch?
It obviously doesn't have the gold bracelet but is there value in the original leather bracelet? I have seen a few with gold bracelet listed in the $17k range. |

Interesting finish. Is it a bark finish? Is there a name for that bracelet? Sent from my cracked, broken hand wound phone. IG @morning_tundra |

It's called florentine finish, not bark.
And the bracelet is brick type. |

Though not as nice, this just popped up as a good reference. Not bad for 10 grand.
