Apart from size, what is feminine about 7234R Pilot Calatrava?

Been looking at the Patek pilot calatravas with second time zone, really like them in pictures but have never seen one live.

From experience I know I don't like watches above 40 mm since they usually don't look good on my 16.5 cm wrist. Is there any differences apart from size between the 5524 and 7234? Of course, the embarrassment and emasculation of wearing a ladies watch is potentially too hard to overcome.

The 5524R is 42mm and the 7234R is 37,5mm, there is also a difference in water resistance of 30m to the 5524 advantage. Movement seems to be the same.

It’s not feminine. It’s just smaller.

I think it looks great, remember ladies pieces are a different rose gold to gents - 4N not 5N or 3N not 4N - can’t remember which PP uses.

I have a 6.75” wrist and the 37.5mm for this piece seems like it would be great. I found it ridiculous that PP would initially release this labeled as a woman’s size.

its the ladies shade of RG so it is different. Probably why its listed and marketed as a ladies watch and not "mid sized"

I tried on the 5524r when the new Basel releases were doing the rounds Last year. My friend has a significantly smaller wrist than me and tried on the 7234r and it looked fine in him, it didn’t look feminine at all. If the smaller version fits your wrist better I wouldn’t have any issue buying it over the 5524r.

Lug width is much more narrow and strap is also disproportionately more narrow. I had felt the same way about the size working until I tried the 7234r. Due to the strap sizing and lug spacing, I can better appreciate why they labeled it “ladies”.

but it is different. Its not just a smaller version. That would be one thing, but its more than that. How much of an issue that is can be debatable but its not a small 5524

I don’t really view a different shade of Rg being that material. Although I haven’t seen IRL so I may be off. I don’t really care that PP says it’s a ladies shade

That watch is not feminine, if anything it looks like it would hurt my wrist with those pushers.

Thanks for your answers, didn't know it had a different shade of rose gold. Probably that's why it's marketed as a ladies version as tyler1980 says.

Regardless, my first Patek is not going to be a ladies watch. Hopefully they come out with more versions with pilot look.

Those details can certainly make a big difference too. Just missing the diamonds ;)

my AD had both for a few days. Side by side they are definitely different. However if you only had one or the other as a point of reference you may not notice.

Kind of like the two versions of the BLRO bezel. With only one watch its really hard to tell they are different. Two side by side and its easier
