The New Rolex Yacht-Master II

Rolex just posted this on their website.

Apart from the changes to the hands I cannot see much different. Very subtle.

Check out the official video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z01fLn2lsUc

Doesn't seem much love for the changes yet!

It's only had minor adjustments to the dial as far as I can tell. Wouldn't really call it a new model

It would seem all metal combinations have had the updated dial and hands.

I am a fan of the GMT like triangle at the 12 o'clock on the dial but am not a fan of the hands. I think i prefer the old style hands.

Hands are terrible on the SS model. Big mistake.

I can't believe that changing two hour markers and the hand colors warranted a Basel release

They just screwed it up with that changing of the hands.

I reserve judgement until seen in the metal. I must say for me (it might be the old eyes!) the blued hands are quite difficult to read - its my only grumble about my bi-colour YM2. If the hands are more legible then it may well be a benefit. As it happens I am considering getting an all gold YM2, so need to wait to see the new one before deciding which to go for, if any.

Didn't they recently change the YG YM2's hands FROM gold TO blue bc it was somewhat difficult to see the gold hands???

Mercedes hands and cyclops on the SDc; maybe normal people have been telling ADs they would rather see these Rolex hallmarks on these models, seems to be a merging philosophy at Rolex nowadays.

I know owning one makes me biased, but the I much prefer the blue hands and blue outlined hour markers. Never really thought it was difficult to read. The triangle at 12 o'clock is nice.

I can't believe the change to the hands. It seems like it will be very illegible on the SS model.

You would think they would go from these hands to blue

I like the changes - I thought at first they were using a darker blue ceramic as well. I guess it's the same?

I'm still a bigger fan of the YM1.

Exactly. I don't know how changing it to white on white makes it more legible.

The other hour plots were subtlety changed too (aside from the 12 & 6). From blue outlines to WG.

And from overly enlarged Rolex product pics, I do think the blue ceramic bezel is a hue or two different.

New
