Utterly Confused
When the SD 116600 was launched, there were a few that loved it (me included) but the majority had two complaints:
1. It was too small and should have been 42mm or 44mm 2. It was too expensive at £6,900 In addition, the majority of people on this forum clearly suggested that they prefer the Sub, suggesting they like the date magnifier (or at least don't object to it) And finally, I'm forever reading that people want the red writing! So I'm wondering why... 1. People don't like the bigger watch (that they wanted) with red writing (which they love), and the date magnifier (that some say defines a Rolex, and others at least don't mind). And... 2. Why nobody is kicking off about the price increase!

There are enough people on both sides, so you'll hear both views on the size...as for price, maybe it just hasn't sunk in yet and may not be as widely known by the masses ($11.4k USD?)
From the poll I ran the other day, 60% were good with the SD as is, and 5% just not interested in general. 28% were interested in the bigger one...with another 7% in both https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=527690 |

You should be confused. The NEW Sea Dweller finally gave the model an identity of its own. People will complain about anything. I love the new model. The forums are filled with dedicated consumers no doubt... but 95% of all consumers have no idea that the RolexForum, WatchUSeek, Hodinkee etc... even exist.
Great move by Rolex. I love the new Sea Dweller. And yes... I hate the price! |

Yes, a day magnifier defines Rolex. But no day magnifier used to define Sea Dweller!
