What is this old Tudor? Real? Fake?

Hi there,

I've had this watch lying around for ages. I can't find any pictures of old Tudors that resemble it and was wondering if anyone can help with identification. (Nothing looking like this comes up when I search for this model number). Is it likely to be authentic? Fake (what would be leading indications that it's a fake)? A ballpark estimate for the year if it's authentic?

There are two number on the back of the case: a five digit number and a four digit number below it. The numbers appear to be 14885 and 4463.

Any words would be much appreciated. Thank you.

The model is 4463, the other number is the serial number, any pictures of the movement?

I have not seen a font like that on a Tudor before, so I would guess that it has been redialed.

Yes, the font was the main thing I was curious about - also the way the lugs attach to the casing, can't find images of any Tudors with similar cases.

Can anyone recommend a good place to have it checked out/serviced in London?

As mentioned, it is a redial. The 4453 and 4463 were early Tudors, and these model numbers were also used late 30s/early 40s by the Oyster Watch Company, which was another cheaper sub brand of Rolex. I suspect yours was either OWC or a very early Tudor (mid 40s) with the rose inside the shield logo. Inside of the caseback will have the name of one or the other. Lugs are unusual but ok.

Thanks very much for responding - that's helpful. I've never opened the thing, I suppose that's the next thing to do...
