Sold for $85,000CDN + 20% Buyer’s premium + 13% local tax, so $115,000 Canadian.

Insanely nice watch but that’s an overpay for me.

How often do you guys see evenly tropical examples go much cheaper? That is the running rate for these and it is increasingly rare to even find nice ones for sale. I imagine the buyer is very happy with his/her acqusition.

Apparently it was an older widow who dropped it and a Newman Daytona off with a bunch of other stuff to see if they were with anything (presumably her husband’s). The Daytona went for CAD180k.

Is it the tropical dial that makes this worth more than twice the price of other PCG chapter ring GMT's?

In equal condition yes. Even with a black glossy dial this would have done well. Overall a nice looking watch.
