Hello All, I would appreciate any help and direction in enabling me to buy my first Rolex.
I reside in Ontario and have a bad want for a submariner

Welcome to TRF! Have you checked your local Authorized Dealers to see if they have any in stock? Are you looking for the submariner or sub date, give us some more info so we can hopefully help you out.

Please be more specific on what you mean by help. If you ask specific questions many members (including myself) will be happy to help.

Thanks for the replies, my apologies for my lack of knowledge in the Rolex field

I am looking to buy a sub date. I have visited my local Rolex dealer but I was informed that the price for a sub date was around 13.5k plus 5 months of wait time

Again thank you for your time

My first Submariner was previously owned and well loved. A 1999 model, I wore it for 12 years before upgrading to my current Bluesy, which is a Z serial and also well loved, previously owned. I now have two awesome subs that will continue to provide years of wear and will appreciate in value. Keep your options open, perhaps there are Submariners available now that are perfect for you. If you really want one brand new, who cares if you have to wait? Put the money aside, get on the list and pull the trigger, there is no substitute for the classic Submariner. Even on a wait list, new 116610s in the Louisville area are available with discounts for $8,500 US.

Yes, I agree....much better deals on here with the TS than the $13.5K price tag at your AD. BTW, what model of Sub are you looking at? The MSRP for a standard black dial 116610LN is only $8550 USD here in the states. At $13.5K CAD that's still only about $10,200 USD. Are they marking it up? Or does Canada have a higher MSRP than in the states?

Hi Bxtek, I'm not sure what the mark up is over here, it just seems to be choice and availability is limited like most higher end products. I have to drive 1.3 hrs to get to a Rolex dealer that had no sub's to show me.

Quick question, Is there a strand to keep away from, defective years etc or all past and present Rolex watches are recommended.

MSRP for Sub date in SS is 9750.00 CAD before tax. Is this the one you are looking for?

I believe so biscotti, please excuse me as my knowledge is just a few pages in on the Rolex dictionary.

Would this price be for a sub date colored face ( blue, green ) or the black face ?

New Rolex watches come with a 5 yr warranty. Is it worth getting an extended warranty ? also how much does it cost to service a sub with date, and how often is a service needed.

Cheers

That would be black face in stainless steel with the date. The green would be the hulk and is over 10K in Canadian dollars. The blue face is available only in gold/steel, referred to as two-tone or as a white gold model.

No, don't get extended warranty as Rolex watches are usually very reliable. Some owners like to send their watches in for service every 5-10 years. Some owners won't service their watch until there is a problem, you will hear different opinions on service intervals. Cost to service is about 700.00 CAD.
