Grey market dealer and Factory warranty?

Hello,

I've been talking back and forth with luxuryofwatches.com regarding this one watch. I know they are grey market dealer, however, they guarantee that they will provide a factory warranty card with my name on it as buying through an AD. I'm not sure how warranty works but i thought if you want a warranty card with your name on it, the only way is to purchase at AD. Per them, they are working with AD and getting their stuff from AD, therefore, they are able to issue factory warranty card

Have any of you had experience with this situation before??

Thank you

I'd be careful with that. Someone is breaking rules somewhere, and if Rolex finds you, they will void the warranty.

Most grey dealers can get you a factory warranty if you ask -- they just usually charge extra for it. As your dealer notes, the watches generally come from an AD in the first place. I took a grey market Rolex for warranty service and had no problems.

If a Grey Dealer puts your data on the card "as buying through an AD.", then they are committing fraud.

Yes, compare to Jomashop, their price is couple hundreds more and they said because Jomashop wont deliver warranty card

Don't let a Forum talk you into something that may not be true. If you are buying a Grey Market watch without a valid warranty, you will be accepting the risk that goes along with it.

Typically, though, you save more money buying a Grey watch that if you needed to pay for a service, you will still be ahead.

Know what you are buying and accept the risk that goes along with not buying from an AD if that is your choice.

If that online dealer has a blank warranty card - and you plan to buy it - ask for pictures of the blank card.

You can fill it out if you want to do that or just keep it blank - you may never need to use it and selling it later will be easier.

Actually, Joma could probably get you a warranty if you asked -- they'll just charge extra for it.

And yes, if you need to use the warranty, and it's been activated properly, then you just go ahead and use it. It doesn't even matter if yours is the name on it. It's perfectly legal for an AD to sell through a middleman, and it's also legal for an AD to sell to someone who then sells it to you. In either case, an AD-activated warranty stays with the watch.

(And to be clear, neither situation is fraud, although it might violate Rolex's terms with the AD.)

*edit* Should note, this is all assuming that you're in California as your profile indicates. I can't speak for consumer laws in every country.
