Have fun and much respect for signing up for that. I cycle with a fella that does long endurance x-country running and has done the 100k runs.
It is pretty hard core and I would never sign up for such punishment. |

I'm a serious runner also but I cannot imagine running 100 km!
What is your target time?

Im 24. Been running since age ~18, did my first marathon a little over a year ago. Got into trail running last summer, did another marathon.
First ultra last March (55km 2000m elevation, trail) will do another 50km trail this summer at the La Chouffe brewery. 100km is completely new territory, I will do a 75-80km long run later this summer as training. It will be a good challenge. |

Best of luck Bas.
I did a half marathon last January after two months of training. Prior to training I'd never ran more than 6 miles.

A Seiko, or maybe a G-shock (thinking about one of those for running...), running this type of distance takes some energy, I don't want my tired ass to fall and smash my relatively new Rolex on a rock.

Eventually I'd like to run a real ultra (100miler) Funny you bump this thread today, as today is race day, classic 42.2km but with some decent elevation and mostly off road (not true trail though), and it is pouring outside going to be fun How about you? You running races as well? |

I have run a few different 50k (+) events. The most notable was the Barkley Fall Classic. Ran it in 2017 and took home a marathon finish, went back in 2018 and came back with my Croix de Barque.
There is The Sunofa Gunofa race based upon Big’s Backyard. 5.7k loop every hour on the hour until only one runner is left. This is my primary race for 2019. I’m turning 50 in a week andI thought winning this one would be quite an achievement. Last year I finished 10 laps. It will probably go 22-24 hours. A month after that is the Capes 100. It’s a 100 mile event. Depending on how Sunofa goes, I will try for my 1st 100 miler. |

Belgium has a few good ones, did two 50k trail there last year accumulating some UTMB points and hope to one day apply for that My marathon today was a little more muddy than expected, came in at 4hr21min so definitely a bit slow, but had a nice day which is all that matters Now it's time for a beer |

If you are on Facebook, check out Big Dog’s Backyard Ultra Run group. Laz is the race director. He also puts on the Barkley Marathons, Barkley Fall Classic, The Last Annual Volstate & Strolling Jim. Last years Big went for 68 hours!
UTMB would be my grail ultra! Good luck on qualifying! |

I signed up for a 100km trail run
Good to see some ultra runners here! I raced mountain bikes for years got burned out I started trail running last year at the ripe old age of 53. Did several half marathon trail races, a three day mountain stage race and then two 50K’s in the fall. This year I have three mountain stages races scheduled for April, May and June and a handful of 50K’s on the schedule. I’ll do several filler trail races in between. Now at 54, I’m not that fast but do enjoy the pain, suffering and beer afterwards.
