Latest fun pick-up -> pair of Britannias (Ag & Au)

Recently picked up a couple of Britannia coins to put away. One silver, one gold. Both 99,9 fineness.

Got some nice photos with my macro lens - some lovely finishing on them, and really crisp details.

It seems one hobby can definitely lead onto the next.

Anyone else here who also collects coins - Whether for numismatic or investment reasons ?

I used to collect a lot of silver and gold. Now it’s more of a buffer. Spend most of my money on stuff we can’t discuss, because it’s more profitable. I used to buy a lot of scrap jewelry and flip it, used to flip a fair amount of watches. But after becoming a pawnbroker, I realized the margins are much more slim.

These coins are gorgeous, you must see an Austrian philharmonic in person, both the silver and gold..

Australian Lunar Series. There are some pieces of the series harder to find than a SS Daytona. The search is fun though.

This was the second option for me - but the Britannia won out.

I think the AT philharmonics are thinner but have a wider diameter..they are meant to be one of the most beautiful of the gold coins out there. Definitely one for the future !!

The other one which grabbed me was the Queen's beasts lion edition, also stunning but I missed the boat on that one and don't fancy paying over retail for a coin until I have learnt more about what's what.

I'd never take them out of the seal though if they were an investment. Condition is everything.
