hey mam

My wife is Jamaican----things can be dangerous in spots but at a resort --no prob. Stay on property. If ya go off property --watch out for the cops---half of them are worse than the crooks. She's jamaican and is scared of the police.
Sometimes they are even in cahoots with the bad boys. They can set ya up, so be careful. Tourists are easy pickings. Enjoy ya stay. If ya going to sweat it leave the watch home.

I'm going to Cabo next week, so I bought a beater. I must say, it's the most cost-effective beater I've ever seen. It's under $200 AND it's an automatic/self-winding watch.

Insure it and forget it.

You can be robbed anywhere. Why spend the money to buy one of these amazing watches and then just lock it up when going out to play...?

Exactly, the bad guys look for an easy mark. Present yourself as a victim, and you will be one. Your demeanor has a lot to do if you get robbed or not.

Warning: these robust, inexpensive, and very reliable gems are addicting. Especially at those prices.

I wore my BLNR on a black/blue NATO strap while backpacking through Thailand for 3 weeks (I just got back a couple days ago) with no problems. Jamaica is nice but I'd stay on resort, and definitely don't go to Kingston

Same risk as wearing your Rolex whilst pumping gas in a 'bad area' in your own home town. People are the same all over the world. Judge not...

I'm fortunate to be with USAA and have my watches and cameras insured. They cover 100% of the replacement cost regardless of how the loss occurs. Costs a few bucks a year but sure is worth it to wear my Rolex and carry my Leica when traveling.

You're right. Plenty nice looking beater. Imagine what the bad guy will go through after he steals it and finds out what he got.

I put mine in my pocket in the airport and ride to resort. Once on resort I wear it when I go to jamaica. I stay at the iberostar in rose hall.

The YM is quite literally THE watch to wear at a resort. Sporty for daytime activities, dressy for evening dinners.

It should be safe, as long as you don't stick the watch in people's faces IMO it always safe. I would travel with a SS Rolex versus a precious gold one just my preference. And also stay on the resort.

I've travelled all over the Caribbean wearing my Rolexes. Of all the places I've been, Ochos Rios Jamaica is one place I would be extra careful in. I would recommend you stay at the resort. The guy in his picture got in to my face and I believe he was about to rob me when the police officer came out of no where and intervened. We got out of there pretty fast, although I'm not sure he would have had much use for my wrist watch...

I always used to wear my Rolex when I travel, but after someone I know got mugged of their day date, in broad daylight in central London, UK, I've started to have second thoughts.

I do hate these type of threads ........ I am going to Baghdad is it safe outside the green zone?

Common sense will dictate, what a minute........ it may not be as common as I thought

With what appears to be kick ass lume. It looks like the bezel is lumed too, true or no?
