ROLEX Explorer II Custom Polished band

Has anyone ever thought or have polished your Explorer II watch band to look like the newer GMT.. Satin outside links with polished center links?

What are your thought does it take away from the sport look or do you think it would make the watch more interesting to look at a touch of classy?

If you have done this already post some pictures.

I just purchased an explorer II and I am wanting to customize the band to the two tone satin polish.

This would be my thought, personally I don't think it'd look good. Different stroked for different folks though.

I'm thinking straight to hell.

Seriously, I wouldn't do that to an Exp2. I don't even like it on the GMT but that's just me.

Agreed, Tim. The Explorer II is a tool watch that's supposed to be for uncompromising, rugged and tough environments. Grrrrr! PCLs would look out of place, IMHO.

Your watch, your choice. However, if you are going to go down that road, think about getting a second hand bracelet and customise that. You can always change the watch back to its original state if you find the look doesn't work for you or if you decide to flip later on

I see your points.

I have always been a fan of the satin / polished bands. Love the new GMT bands myself.

I never really put to much thought into why some rolex's were all satin finish while others had polished center links. Now after researching and looking at different models it makes sense why.

People customize there watches so much from the changing of dials to adding diamond on the band that I thought why not do something outside the norm for this model. But yeah personal preference. It would be easy to always go back to all satan finish

I love the look on my Milgauss, which is a tool watch for rugged guys with electromagnets. I think Explorer would really pop with PCLs. I say go for it. Post up the pics when you're done.

No go for me. All brushed is the way it should stay.

I just sold my GMT because of the PCLs, and love my EXP II just as it is.

i think it would clash against the brushed bezel & black numerals, but, it's your watch, so, do with it what you will.

The pcls is one of the main reasons I bought my BLNR, but Exp ll looks really nice with the satin brushed links.

Some guy here polished his Explorer 2 from bezel to bracelet to a shiny finish. It looked...different.

Did you know that for less than $100 you can have the bracelet brushed? Love my GMT so much more afterwards. I think a watch needs polished lugs to go with PCL, so I wouldn't do it to an Exp2

I have an exp II and love the brushed look but I say if you want to try it then go ahead. You can easily brush them again if you hate the look.
