Already own a BLNR. Would you add a Smurf or diversify?

Hey guys.

Bank account has been cooling for a while, and watch funds are maxing out, and it is almost that time of year!
Been on the hunt a while and looking to add a new "big" watch for myself.

Currently already own the BLNR, and looking for suggestions from the more experienced, and others that have had a similar dilemma.

I must say that I do really love the Smurf. Nothing to do with it being WG, but just because of the blue color itself. I also feel like it will really look too similar for a guy that has a 2 watch collection, until I can afford to add one more.
When I showed the Smurf to my friends asking for their opinion, a lot of them thought it looked so much like the BLNR.
Though we all know it is nothing like it, I think it is basically the shape, the bezel, and the blue that are the similarities. Let us not get into the weight. :)

Or perhaps diversify, and get into an AP Jumbo?
I am not looking for a dress watch, as I am mostly casually dressed.

I am open to pretty much all suggestions, and appreciate all your opinions!

There are a few other great contenders in the "blue dial" stakes..
1.116613LB Bluesy Two Tone
2.Yachtmaster
3.Datejust II. Roman or stick dials..the shades of blue vary depending on that too.
4.Oyster Perpetual 39mm new model has a KILLER blue dial variant.

I went through all these amazingly tempting choices and ended up with Bluesy SubC. Highly recommend it.

Haha I have promised myself I won't become a flipper.
I dont intend to own many watches anyways (at least that is the plan).
I want to take my time, but keep the watch I buy.

Extremely beautiful, however I am not a fan of the yellow gold at all personally. I do nevertheless find it one of the most beautiful Rolexes available.

I actually haven't seen the OP 39 MM in blue.
I am looking forward to trying that one out for sure.
Another one I have thought of, that would be a good option, is a Patek 5167 Aquanaut in SS. Pretty cool watch as well.

The bluesy as I stated above, thought beautiful, is not my cup of tea with the yellow gold..

I would personally go jumbo because its another brand to explore and a great one at that. But if that hunk of gold is calling your name, may be hard to resist and I wouldn't fault you one bit

Honestly, like I said it really isn't the gold that I am drawn to, but rather the blue on the smurf.
I don't have an urge for a PM watch really.
Will definitely be trying the jumbo, and an aquanaut as well, and the smurf again, to see which I like best.

Silly me I forgot you said that. In that case 5167, 5711, 15202 are all the places I would look first. All winners and worthy of daily wear while being heirloom quality

I would do that combo. I think they are very different watches despite sharing the same case style. As the owner you will notice all of the differences where others will just be focused on the shape.

Would be a great PM add.

I personally believe in diversifying, but there are other collectors who find their niche and then go full throttle.

This is totally preferential.

I would diversify and go for an AP. Either a 15202 or if you want something more sporty a ROC.

I just added the sd4k to my BLNR and I'm happy with my choice. It's different enough and more classic (black, slim lugs). Had I 15k to add I might've gone with the Smurfmariner as that is a long time grail for me.

I don't understand diversifying watches. It makes sense to diversify an investment portfolio to dilute risk, but a watch is something you love, and can stare at to the point of distraction.

Find the watch that sings to you, that keeps distracting you at work because you have to have it, and don't. Then go buy it, and enjoy it.

Blnr and Smurf are distinct enough to be in the same collection. You got GMT and sub functions. Started with my blnr and thought the smurf was completely different and enough to add it to my collection.

My blnr serves as my trusty travel watch and occasional weekend watch. I rotate the smurf with my blnr on weekends.

For Smurf money I'd look at a VC Overseas or a PP Nautilus or Aquanaut. I love the Smurf, but if you are looking for diversity with a BLNR, I think they look to similar to drop $20K
