Daily Wear Care

I love my Daytona. I wear it every day. Everywhere. Problem is... It really shows. What do you use to keep your watches looking good? I don't need it NIB status; just want a quick solution for now and then.

It's not so much the desk.. All that love occurs during all of the other adventures with land, sea and air. Rolex time is too precious to tick away at a desk!

Thanks!

It is a very young piece.. I do sort of admire the fact that it's such a tank and has been able to stay so dang pretty, even despite being with me in the worst of situations a Rolex could be in. All of these "incoming" threads make me want to be shiny... But I think character will shine brighter(to me, anyhow)

I probably wouldn't, but maybe a light polish once a year by a skilled watchmaker.

Don't think you will lose too much metal if done correctly and you will get a lot of that shine back.

Daily Wear Care

Mine is a week old and already shows visible signs of wear.

That's why I will most probably never buy a watch with PCL... I would probably go crazy...

why not get a light polish for 100-$150 ? take away most of the marks...904 steel is tough..can polish many times

How long have you had that watch? I wear my Daytona daily - hence my Instagram name - for 10 months now, and it doesn't look anywhere near as worn as yours.

If you have a good independent watch guy--that you trust, you can always take it in for a light polish. But, I wouldn't mess with a DIY job...it can always look worse. Trust me.

So my choices would be leave it alone till service or taking it to an independent.

I don't see a problem there, unless you think enjoy wearing your watch is one.

Keep it like this and wear it like you own it :)

I don't think it looks so bad, but does the watch take many hits to surfaces, or is this just by leaning your hand on a table, desk, etc?
I have seen some guys on the Forum, and some friends whose bracelets really look extremely good many years after ownership, and they literally do everything with their watches too.
I think it's just wrist awareness.

Not saying it doesn't look good, but I would polish her up if it bothers you, and just be more wrist aware next time around.

Edit. Pic of the face to see the bezel?

You'd be amazed by an RSC service which would polish this up like new. Pics of the case would be interesting.

I'm in the 'wear it and enjoy it until service time' camp.
If it's going to get scratched up again quickly, I would not bother with an interim polish.

Much tougher to DYI with the polished center links. A straight satin finish is fairly easy. Bergeon sells good quality satin finish wheels/pads that work great. But it takes some practice to do correctly. Like others suggested, might want to wait until service or seek a professional WS. Or if you want to invest the time, get a aftermarket cheap SS bracelet and some quality finishing materials to practice on. I generally touch up my own in between services but I practiced a lot before working on a Rolex. Careful with cape cod, seen many bracelets messed up using that.

Totally agree with Tom here.

All of my watches are worn to be enjoyed, but there is a level of "watch awareness" that should be taken into consideration. Just be aware of your surroundings and if a scratch or ding occur, so be it.
