The SD43 / 116600 dilemma
As you may know from other posts, I recently added the SD43 ( absolutely love it) and was having internal debates about parting with my old SD 116600 since I am pretty sure I would no longer wear it. The issue was the 116600 was my first Rolex and pretty much my daily that had traveled the world with me since buying it back in 1998. Equally impressive was that I had several offers for it that were over 3X what I paid for it almost 20 years ago and was tempted to put it toward another model that differed a bit more from the SD43 and anything else in my collection. Well after about a week I just couldn't let it go, so it's now a great piece of history for me that I will make a point to wear from time to time. |

Just sell it. Memories will always be in your head. Start some new one with the new watch.

I strongly disagree with the last poster. If you don’t financially HAVE to sell it. Don’t. Don’t. And don’t.

If you don't wear it/have any more attachments to it...sell it. Otherwise keep the great watch. BTW I don't see a 116600 here, just a 16600. Still a great watch. Chamfers are killing it there, you took great care of the watch.

If you’d only have to keep one it would be the 16600....it’s THE modern classic sea dweller.

Keep it if you don't have to sell it. Memories aside you might miss wearing it and it's nice to have options, plus I also agree that the 16600 is a modern classic. You took great care of that 16600!

Smart move. It's a historical piece, not just in the world of Rolex but in your personal world.

Appreciate the feedback. It's not a financial issue so I think I'll keep it. I guess if I sold it I'd feel more justified rolling into another piece which is always fun, so that I think is what had me split.

It is a lovely 16600. The 116600 is the 2014 re-introduction with the ceramic bezel and upgraded clasp.
The 126600 reference is the best thus far though imho. |

Thanks for the correction. I've been pondering a DD 40 and selling would definitely have me on the hunt. I have a plat masterpiece but it's so blingy I usually only wear it on vegas trips lol. The internal debate continues.

I'd regret it if I sold it, especially if I didn't need to.

This thread is from oct 2017, no need to bump it the OP likely already made his decision.

I know this is an older thread, but on the off chance OP sees this, maybe he can give the older watch to his kid? This would be the perfect watch to pass on to the next generation.
