Buyer of the Paul Newman , Paul Newman

I think I came across a video of Aurel Bacs interview at SIHH 40 min to be exact
. The question asked was about the morality of such an expensive watch ie the Paul Newman his answer was centered around charity , stating some of the proceeds going to charity . Also made mention Most importantly the buyer of the watch and how much charity they provide so I was thinking Rolex contributes a lot of their profit to charity,so with that would that make Rolex the buyer of the Paul Newman Paul Newman just a thought .

Yes - it was Rolex who were the buyer of this watch.

So Aurel is the man. He sell an old watch back to Rolex at ten of thousands % markup!

I seriously doubt Rolex was the purchaser of the watch. Would love to see some evidence it was them. :)

Aurel said he wanted to "do the watch justice" but I wonder how much of the 17.8m went to charity, as it was(charity) to a young man who didn't have a watch. Mr. Newman would have donated most of it, and that would have done it justice.. jus sayin.

You wont get any evidence - Rolex have little incentive to broadcast that they were the buyer

In which case you are simply speculating, and stating your opinion as fact.

If I was speculating I would have used appropriate wording to reflect this - this is not opinion this is fact.

You don't have to believe this if you don't want to - you can simply move on to the next thread!!

Hard to follow your logic though.

Paul Newman had two of the same watch as mentioned by Mario Andrettii

https://youtu.be/7piqKHepNEk

Would the second one sell for same price? Who knows!
Who knows who bought the watch. If Rolex bought it, it was a great marketting strategy. The watch who no one wanted initially. It was also beaten by Omega in the race to the moon. Yet, a lotta people want the new one because it resembles the Paul Newman version ($15-17 million watch). It will hold its value and it sells for a huge premium. Sales for Rolex SS sports watches is off the roof now!

I think Rolex bought it! Just my 2 cents!

There isn’t any logic to follow.

I factually know that Rolex are the owners of the watch. If you choose not to believe that then that is your prerogative.

Everyone is welcome to their opinion - I was simply trying to assist forum members with some valuable insight that I have gleaned.

Sometimes it’s easier to stay quiet and avoid having to respond to irrelevant follow up posts.

We have no reason for not believing you; however, you gave us no proof for what you have said. A few more details would be nice.
