Percentage of SS allotment over overall watch allotment to AD
Spent some time talking to the AD today and he mentioned
1. Only 25% of any given allotment is SS models. 2. Only 1% of any allotment is Ceramic daytonas. He mentioned he has only received 3 dayotonas so far. The 25% rule seems believable, but the 1% rule I am having trouble digesting. thoughts? |

I believe it. Someone posted a little while ago that 14,000 SS Daytona’s are produced each year. Who knows if this number is accurate but if it is close it’s probably just around 1% or so of total production. But truly, who knows?!?

Seems very reasonable. This forum tends to have a sports model bias for whatever reason, so views on numbers and percentages can be skewed. Rolex sell a huge amount of DJ's for instance. My local AD seems to do very well on ladies watches and a big percentage of their displays are taking up with them.
I haven't counted, but I'm pretty sure they have more than 100 watches on display, none of them are SS Daytonas! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I thought I read somewhere reputable (Bob's Watches maybe?) that most commonly sold Rolex models are under $10k. If that's the case, then wouldn't allotment have to roughly mirror it?

Even if I am guessing there are is max of 1000-1400 ADs in the world for Rolex. Therefore each AD getting about 10 of those SS Daytona and more a year. This is just for the white dial SS.
That is a whole lotta Daytonas for lets say 2 years! That is almost 48,000 SS Daytonas(with ceramic bezel) in the world. An AD most probably did see a lot more. How many they sold to regular customer might be the number they give when they say “they have only seen 3 a year.” |

If we assume not wholesale figures, then that means all PM models would sit on shelves for multiple years at a time. While possible, it seems too much of a stretch to me. Perhaps this is their forward looking target now and they plan to sell much less of the watches overall. Otherwise I can't see the math working. |

This could make more sense. Or that 25% of SS models specifically are Professional and the rest Oyster. From my understanding, Rolex sells a LOT of SS DJ. Though if you count those technically as white Rolesor and items like the YM1 technically is Rolesor as well, and as is the SS Sky D it changes the conversation.

One colorful Aussie YouTuber put out a video where he claimed SS Sports watches accounted for 30% of an AD watch allotment.
Speaking to a long time salesman at Ben Bridge, he said he hadn’t seen any “specialty watches (ie SS Sports)” since Christmas. It’s curius that Subs, GMTs, and the like are called “specialty” watches. Perhaps higher up in the distribution network, these models are pulled out for VIPs and greys. |
