Comment on 1655

Guys needed your expert opinion on this piece. Tried to read up about it but not sure what I am looking at with my untrained eyes. Needed your thoughts as to the condition and originality of the timepiece. Much appreciated

I’m no expert as I own a 16570 but isn’t the crown on the crown small? Looks like service hands right, because of the lack of patina. But the rest looks good to my untrained eye. Awesome watch if you can bag one.

Or maybe the hands are typically that white and the lume within them does actually match the patina on the rest. I still think the (twinlock) line below the crown on the crown looks further from the crown than I’m used to?

It’s a 6mio serial. the clasp code is ve so that means clasp is from 1980/81 so matches watch serial

I can’t tell if this is a t4/t5 dial and whether bezel is original. If I were to get this would taking hands off And have adhesive professionally applied be a good idea?

Interesting putting a sticker on the case back of a non-engraved stainless steel watch.

we all know caseback stickers add at least $500 to the value right? specially with the “patina” on that sticker!

The verification process is much harder than I anticipated. The bezel I am not 100% now that it’s been mentioned it could be a service one. But when I take a break and look again it could be a mk3 bezel if the attached is to be trusted.

Thank you for your input so far keep them coming. Puns also

the case has been polished a bit but not too bad the bezel appears to be a Mk3 but the sunburst effect seems to have been polished away resulting in the fonts appearing thinner. nice looking mk4 dial, cool watch. Do a search for 1655 over at HQ Milton and you'll get a lot of images to compare with.

Thank you I will look into that. For the newbie me I am trying to tell between refinished case the Japanese does a scarily amazing job on all cases refinished. Getting the hang of it to discern those pieces the telltale sign should be the lug hole appears pretty close to the edge of the side ??

I am not sure about the bezel whether it’s serviced thus the thin font or is it because it’s a mk4 version since the 1 looks different between mk3 and mk4 as per the latest attached photo.
