A difference of view

Most of you know how different the size of a watch looks depending on how you view it. I thought this was pretty neat when I first realized it.

To me, the direct view (what I see when I look at my wrist) makes this watch look too big on my puny 6.5" wrist. However, when you look at it in the mirror, or what other people see, I don't think it looks too bad.

Thoughts?

Dude, that watch fits you great...the lugs don't extend past your wrists. IMHO, perfect size for you.

The watch looks great on you. As you imply wrist shots taken with the camera aimed directly at the watch are near enough useless when trying to assess how proportional it looks.

This is why portrait photography don't work with wide angel lenses...unless you want the subject to have a gigantic nose or forehead - and no ears.

Or, a large watch dial and no lugs...

Il have the same feeling with my 114060 and I also have the same puny wrists. That's why I always go back to my Daytona: perfect size IMO. I'm thinking to get the new 116500 in the very near future.

I also have small wrists and find that in photos most watches look massive on me. In reality they don’t look as big on me as on the photos. I’m not prepared (yet) to go down the 36-38 mm route as I am not a big fan of vintage; I like modern styles at 39-42 mm. Yours looks fine btw. I think us smaller-wristed men have a bit of a phobia sometimes!

Looks perfect in your close up picture imo. Looks a bit smaller in your mirror shot but I think it's a little further up your arm? Either way, it looks good on you! Definitely not too large for you imo.

A difference of view

I think it looks real good on you.

I had the same experience with my sub. When looking at my wrist, I thought it looked good, and when looking in the mirror, it looked kinda small!

A young lady at the Panerai boutique told me that it was small for my 6.75in wrist...

That’s what got me thinking about it in the first place lol

I think there’s actually a reason for the difference.
With the wrist in supination (as in your mirror shot) the wrist will actually be wider and flatter than when your wrist is in pronation (typically the position for the direct view). Reason is that pronation and supination is accomplished by the radius bone rotating around the ulna bone at the wrist.
In the fully supinated position the two bones lie next to each other, while in pronation the radius actually is rotated and comes to lie on top of the ulna, which will give the wrist a rounder countour.

I don’t think it looks small at all. If you went bigger that would look fine too but wouldn’t feel the need to do so because this looks small.

Looks perfect! I enjoy watches from 34mm through 51mm (maybe 44mm, the 51mm is more of a utility watch).
