talk to me about RUBBER straps....
I’m not sure I understand the for and against question you’re asking. I suppose the “against” is many people say if a Rolex is worn on anything but a bracelet it looks fake. The “for” in my opinion is when wearing it for strenuous activities such as sports or exercise it prevents excessive wear and scratches on your bracelet. I wear it on the rubber strap when it’s hot or humid as it’s more comfortable during that time of year and when I want my Rolex to be low profile and not so obvious of “hey I’m wearing a Rolex!”
There are a few types. The few i know are the Oysterflex by Rolex for certain models, the Everest rubber straps and the Rubber B rubber straps. Everest costs $225 and Rubber B is $240. I chose the Rubber B. It’s Vulcanized Rubber made in Switzerland. It’s very comfortable. I chose the Rubber B because I liked the overall look and comfort more but many pick the Everest because it’s cheaper and they say they can’t tell the difference in quality. I think they’re definitely worth it though. Here are some pictures of my Rubber B on my Explorer: The RubberB SkyDweller straps appear to be $280. I still think they’re worth it. Here are some photos on the website. https://rubberb.com/en/rolex-watch-b...r-vulchromatic |

Another RubberB fan for all the reasons already mentioned.

Does look great! Are there preferred companies for rubber straps?

Rubber b is the higher quality with impeccable fit to the watch head, but Everest is softer

+1 for Everest. I’ve got an Everest strap for my Tudor, looks and feels amazing!

I've had both Everest and Rubber B. Rubber B looked, felt and fit better for me. I had a black Everest and the color seemed to fade quickly. That hasn't happen with Rubber B. I like all the effort Everest is putting in their marketing, their website looks great, their newsletters are interesting but for me Rubber B is just better.

The against is... Why would you put a “$2” strap on such a fine watch? I think rubber straps do not look good on Rolex Watches not meant to have them. Just a preference thing. |

I'm thinking about going rubber. So, is it easy to switch em out? Are "basic" tools good enough or is there some special tool that makes the job easier?

Rubber is a great alternative to leather for daily wear. Rubber B is definitely the higher quality you can get.

I know both Rubber B and Everest have their merits with so many on here. For good reason, I suspect. But for me, I just don't see it. Everest's primary marketing 'tag line' is 'Preserve Your Rolex Bracelet'. Why would I want to do that? I bought my Rolexes so that I could both enjoy and wear them. Not purchase it and then take off and put away a significant part of the watch.
All the above said, still wrestling over whether to add either an Everest or a Rubber B to the collection? LOL :)

Why not get one of each? I have two RubberBs on tangs. I’m about to pick up an Everest to add to the mix, for giggles...I mean, it’s only a $2.00 whim. ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SD with an Everest.
Love the look, the comfort and the "reinvention" of the SD/SUB wrist presence. |

Just can't argue on quality. This product is just made with such detail. I can see how some just see a piece of rubber but to get it to fit on a Rolex and look OEM is definitely a hard task. I can tell you this from a mechanical engineering perspective.

#1 is the bracelet IMO. I use the rubber b strap in the summer or when I travel to where I don't want to be noticed as much. It's all about personal preference.

Would I ever put a rubber strap on my 16710? Nope - OEM bracelet all the way.
Did I just buy a Rubber B for my Tudor Black Bay? Absolutely, because I wanted a different look, and NATOs on the Black Bay just show too much interior metal on the case for my liking...the lug holes are in a weird spot for that watch.

Thanks everyone for the replies,
I've just been on away these last two weeks so it's great to come home to a good thread to read I posted. I'm quite set on a RubberB or Everest. Does anyone find that they sweat having the rubber strap on their wrist? One last thing... is it better to keep the OE clasp ona Rubber starp than have the buckel? i'm thinking the clasp still gives ita a 'rolex' look ;) |

I have no experience with the two companies mentioned, but I do think there's a place for a rubber or silicone strap on a watch, especially a diver. I have a rubber strap on my vintage MKII Speedmaster. I wear in while on my Harley. Just ordered an inexpensive rubber strap off Amazon for my vintage Seiko 6309-7290, that's my cutting the grass outdoor watch. When you don't want to get a leather band all sweaty, or get all sorts of grime and grit in your bracelet, they work great.
