So after having my stunning Explorer II 16570 on my wrist for a few days I cant help but look at my other watches and realize that this is my first 40MM watch. My others are either 42mm or my biggest one being 45mm, I have a square shaped Bulova I wear that's probably 39mm. But
Seeing the Explorer II next to them really makes it seem tiny, my wrist is 7.5in and it fits perfectly. I'm not saying it's to small I'm just wondering if any of you guys have gone from a 42mm- upwards and then put on your 38mm- 40mm Rolex and maybe thought" it's to small for me"

I guess this is what I get for wearing bigger watches

I feel after wearing it more I'll grow accustomed to its size and realize subtle is the way to go!

nope 40mm fits my 7 1/2" wrist just right.
I've worn watches up to 44mm and thought they looked awful.
40mm is perfect.

i think your eye and brain adjusts to what looks and feels right.
i would routinely wear 47mm (also a 52mm watch) and they felt right.
then i started to wear a 36mm explorer,,, which felt ridiculously small for a few days..
then went back to a speedmaster which felt big. 36mm and watches 40mm and under now feel perfect. and i see bigger watches on people and they look almost clown like.
just the brain playing games I'm sure.

I'm close to 8" wrist and wear 40mm a lot. If anything my SD43 ends up looking big, vs the others seeming small.

I think my Explorer II looks great in 40MM I just need to train my brain, one day soon I'll go out on my 45MM watch and think its stupidly big. I just know it!

nope perfect. subC fits my like a glove. Skydweller also fits great, just in a different way.

for me it depends on the watch itself. Big guy, 8" wrist and I feel the SubC I wear daily is perfect and oh so comfy (love the glidelock!).

I was surprised when I put on a DJ41 (jubilee, fluted) that it looked small in my humble opinion. I think I would adjust after a day or two, but it initially just felt too small to me.

38-42mm is the sweet spot for me. Different watches have different profiles and characteristics on the wrist so diameter is a bit irrelevant.

Not at all! In fact, the modern 6 digit 40mm's wear too big for my liking. Wearing a clock on your wrist is rarely a good look.

Many of the members here do seem to prefer smaller watches, but personally, I find 40mm to be small for my almost 8" wrist. Especially the pre-ceramic references with their thinner lugs. Don't get me wrong... I'm not a fan of Invicta size watches either, but 42-45mm is the sweet spot. You should try on the 216570 Exp2!

Oddly enough, they measure the Speedy Pro diagonally to get 42mm, which gets a bit of the integrated crown guards in there. The diameter of the bezel is only 39.7mm.

I wore a 30mm watch on my bird like wrist for over 30 years and earlier this year, I moved to a 38mm and thought it looked huge...for about a week. Then, I bought a subC last week, and now it looks a little big, but I'm getting used to it too. I put the 30mm on the other day, and now it looks like a girl's watch;-)
