What exactly is the rarest right now?

Of the SS professional watches, what do you think is actually the rarest? That is, actually being produced week to week in fewest numbers?
  • White Daytona
  • Black Daytona
  • BLNR GMT
  • BLRO GMT
  • SKYD 326934
  • HULK

First I would say none of these watches are ‘rare’. Hard to get ahold of sure.

Of all of them - I would say the Stainless Skydweller is (and has been) the toughest to source since it’s release.

Both ADs I’ve used for years have gotten far less of these than any of the others.

It has to do with hype and marketing, not production.

I bet there are more of these cranked out than we think

Do you think all of the above mentioned models are produced in identical volumes?

I'm not very well versed in financial affairs, but I have a feeling that if we see another recession à la 2008, there will be plenty of those watches available and at good prices, too.

I’ve seen all of those in the wild with the exception of the black Daytona so that gets my vote.

Exactly, it’s a great list to walk into an AD and rhyme off if you fancy getting laughed out the door

Am not in the hunt for a watch now. I feel this is a good thing for us, current Rolex watch owners. If they flood the market with watches, it will just water down everything and becomes another problem.

Back to the topic, the Daytona C has to be the hardest to get. Amazing control from Rolex to regulate the watch flow.

Yes and most are in the grey market its that simply,it make me smile when some talk or being rare with Rolex watches today made in there hundreds of thousands each year.

Definitely NOT the white or black daytona

The 116610LV for example is much more rare. Ask your AD how many het gets from each

Daytona seems to be more rare cause waiting lists are longer ... only because more people ask for it.
Since the 16610LV there were ALWAYS less green subs than any Daytona

For example my AD gets about 15-20 steel daytona per month
Green subs ? Less than 10

No offence, but I don’t believe for a nanosecond that’s true.

EDIT to clarify that clearly “less than 10” Hulks is true, in much the same way that me saying “I’ve shagged fewer than 23 supermodels so far this year” is true.

Blue Sky-Dweller is harder to get than white Daytona, by far.

I've been offered the Hulk in the last few months and seen it sitting in a preowned window for months, its an ugly watch so not surprised its still there.
I've never seen the white daytona on anyones wrist, I've seen the black a few times so the white gets my vote.

Easy its a Blue SKYD 326934 I have only seen a white and black in person before both were already spoken for. I am on the wait list for the Blue SKYD who knows when that will be.

You AD has up to 240 SS Daytonas for sale every year?

OMG!!!

This rewrites the history of Rolex in 2018.

Good work.

These watches are not rare, they have waiting list however they can be acquired at Trusted Seller, Grey Dealer etc. at a premium.

I would use 'rare" for vintage timepieces.

White Daytona and blue SS SkyD are the toughest to source here in US followed by the black Daytona.

15 - 20 daytona's per YEAR ( not per month ofcourse)
but only 10 or less 116610LV PER YEAR

I agree Ken, the most difficult to get but that does not mean the are the rarest
demand is much higher and that's it

they do make less 116610LV, believe me ;-)

Have to agree now the left hand wind Rolex now they are really rare, and not like today's modern day Rolex, made in the hundreds, thousands, or hundreds of thousands.

Thanks for the hearty laugh. 15-20 Daytonas a month! Even 15-20 Daytonas a year for one AD would be peculiar, but a month is comedy gold.

EDIT: I just saw a later post that stated you meant per year. That’s still a higher allocation for one AD than I’ve seen, even in large markets, but while maybe laughable it is at least plausible.

As for rarity - I’d say Blue Skydweller is probably the rarest
