Reasons to Boycott the Rolex Professional Line Watches

10 Reasons:

1) Rolex doesn't want you to own one; you'll be cooperating with Rolex by not buying one.

2) There are no professionals who actually use these watches to do their jobs; they are relics.

3) For the most part they are expensive toys used for dress-up to pretend...

4) Buying them from an AD requires some sort of expensive special relationship.

5) Buying them from a Gray Marketeer is too expensive; this is a different type of expensive special relationship.

6) They really don't work better than Viagra.

7) The ladies won't really swoon when they see you wearing one (neither will the men).

8) It will teach Rolex a lesson in how manipulating the market works; they'll be stuck with them.

9) The costs will come down at both the ADs and the Grays.

10) You'll finally be able to buy one.

Haha. I know this is all very 'tongue in cheek' but alot of your points are actually true although I think Submarine would disagree with you on point 6. Haha

I think it would hit Rolex harder and faster if everyone boycotted Rolex entirely- no Datejust sales until professional models are reasonably available.

I like the plan but the issue is, most people who buy rolex don't even know what a forum is...

It would only be the keen beans who stop buying and I don't think that would hit their bottom line too hard.

And most buy Datejusts anyway

Only problem is that Rolex is some type of KoolAid we can't get enough of.

Point 7 not entirely true; some men may swoon depending on the model!

This year is a bust, but I think next year Rolex will make serious moves to normalise the market, they want a few models like the D500 and Pepsi to be hard to get hype models, but they don't want this across the entire sports range, it will lead to too much anger amongst the faithful, as in the uncertain future we will be the core customer base.

Apparently moving to a named consignment list. That way the individual AD can’t decide who’ll be top of the list and who to bump. We’ll see!

I'm in! The last 2 watches I purchased were non Rolex and it felt great. I personally will not give in to all the Rolex BS and I love giving my money to other brands.

I don't think people realize how badly Rolex treats their Mom and Pop AD's. If people really knew Rolex, they would not support them anymore.

Hopefully normalization will mean greater supply!!! We can always dream!!! This summer seems to be the summer of the wallet for me..

Hahahahaha!! Love it!!

But you know it's true. Even with the greys.

If people stop paying $20k for daytona, the price will go down. quickly.
But as long as people pay, why would they consider, right?

I’m down, only other sport Rolex I want is a Daytona and I’m convinced that I won’t get one anytime soon so I’ll sign up for the boycott.

Hi boss,

This is interesting. I've just bought a 2003 Rolex catalogue. The watches were accessible then. They were aspirations, yes. But you could walk into a watch shop and buy a watch.
I bought my GMT, and explorers after seeing them in the window.
Brands move on, and Rolex has now moved too. It doesn't really matter.

Yes, or rather more effective supply to the genuine end user, so I'm expecting more flippers to be turned off as they get thwarted at source, and for Rolex to re-allocate more to the wait list watches. We may also see a price rise too.

This is exactly why I'm starting a Pearlmaster collection. My AD said they're really hot right now so I ordered one shy of a dozen. When the market is on fire for them I'll be perfectly positioned.

Nice points! 99% of the public have no clue this is going on and if they go into an AD to buy a Rolex and there are no professional models they will probably walk out with a Datejust...I mean it looks the same and it says Rolex. They will also be annoyed that it will stop running if they don't wear it.

There may not be any professionals that use them, but there are plenty of “friends of the brand” who are professionals that don’t really use them but act like they do!
