This is interesting.

It sucks to drop ones time piece but you were lucky all things concidered. It is not visible when on the wrist so I would leave it. For laser welding they will need to take it apart, introducing a new risk to other types of cosmetic damage and such.

+1 Thought the same. You will barely be able to see that when wearing the watch, and hence leave it for next services

Happened to my smurf. Had Michael Young fix it via laser weld. Am happy with result.
So if one were to repair a dent (laser weld) and not have the repair done by a RSC, would this then impact the warranty? Also, would the RSC refuse to service the watch as it was a modification as suggested above?

even if you fix it..it affected the value already. So, just wear it and accept it.

This first ding hurts, but there will be more. Just wait for the next service.

The OP is in USA, and to my knowledge neither RSC NY nor Dallas laser weld damaged cases. I have seen no evidence to prove otherwise.

I’d just wear it and see if I could get over it. Those are magnified images and I’d imagine with it on the wrist it’s not that noticeable.

Don’t mess with the watch. If you can’t get used to it sell it and replace.

I agree with the others saying just wear it and enjoy. I had some imperfections on a watch I wanted fixed up like new...sent it away and it was never the same again. The watch looked "new" but I could tell the lugs looked shaven and it bothered me even more than before. Ended up selling it to buy a new one.

I can't say for RSC but if you send that watch away it will never come back the same. The dent might be fixed but something else about the watch will have changed. I would just wear it and enjoy.

Don't even think its noticeable. You will get over it very quickly, save your money and enjoy the watch. My BLNR looks like its been through hell and back. Save your money for the second watch, thats where the issue arrises, you never have enough watches.

As others have noted.
It's in consequential where it is located as one can't see it at all.

At some point in the future when it's well out of warranty, one may chose to have it laser welded and refinished back to the original appearance by a reputable independent watchmaker.

That's a fairly hard hit though
I would monitor the timekeeping and or power reserve to see if something is potentially off with the internals

I'm not certain. It's been claimed they do.
I can't imagine why as they would be inclined to sell a new Mid-case instead as it more cost effective/profitable to them
Either way, they won't do it unless it gets a service as well as a prerequisite.

Leave it, it’s on the underside. Get it fixed with first service.

I’d just leave it as it is, same with scratches till next service. Just think battle scars.

For me, dents and scratches on a watch are desirable and welcomed. Watches that are 30 years old and look like they have just left the factory hold no value to me. It proves the wearer didn’t live with the watch, the watch owned them.

Wear and enjoy it!

Be careful when you send it to RSC. Had something similar number of years ago. When I sent it in for service. It came back with the defect polished out. It made the watch look thinner and rounded off. I was very disappointed with the appearance as it was never the same. I wished I told them to leave the dent alone.

I wouldn't bother fixing that as it's not visible unless you take off the watch and point it out......you risk too much with almost nothing to gain. Just enjoy the watch and look @ it on your wrist....not from the side/off your wrist.

Leave it. It’s only noticble for the first week or so and then our forget about it. The safest place for the watch 99% of the time is your wrist.

I understand how it could bother you because its a relatively new watch but the good news is that everyone here has told you that there is a solution for it (laser welding). But I agree that you should wait till the next service so if any other little sings happen, you take care of them all at once

Is a replacement case different from an original? If not, why would it devalue the watch? If a brand new case went on, as a buyer, that wouldn't bother me on a standard sub.... that just me?

Yes serial service replacement will not match og. Absolutely less desirable whether vintage or modern. Hope that helps

Do they still stamp the case under the bracelet with the Rolex even with the rehaut engraved with the serial? Is the case stamped elsewhere? If not, how would one know?
