How often do you reset the seconds on your watch?

I think I am being the epitome of anal with this, however, I've taken to measuring my SubC accuracy every day or two. Granted this is a new watch and I'm new to the brand, I'm guessing (hoping) this interest will die down a wee bit. My watch has proven to be approx. +1.5 sec's on average, but, I kinda like resetting the seconds to the exact time (using https://time.is/ for my measurement) ever day or so. How often does everybody else do this?

BTW: I also noticed that the time on my iphone corresponds exactly to time.is

I don't care about accuracy in seconds. As long as it's close to the right minute I'm good. I show up early for everything anyway.

I seriously cannot imagine being that anal that I need to worry about the accuracy of my watch down to the second. I get its part of the hobby and I love the fact that these things we love can be so precise but to regularly check its accuracy? Ugh..... nope.

I would try not to do it every day. As well made as they are, you don’t want to be putting constant wear and strain on the crown. Might lead to earlier service intervals

Sounds like you have a major OCD problem.

I rotate my watches after a few days of wearing them and I never wear my watches long enough to have a problem with the accuracy of some seconds plus or minus.

I do mine at work when ever I'm in, we have a digital wall clock that shows minutes as well so I use that to do it, probably once a fortnight.

The only time I reset any of my watches are when they stop.

Only when it stops and sometimes not even then.

I checked accuracy a few times during the first week and when I found out it was fine, I never checked again.

Probably every other month, except in august. Basically whenever I change the date I re-sync it/check its accuracy. Usually about 15 seconds every 60 days or so

I wouldn't bother resetting my watch unless it was more than 5 minutes off. My watches don't ever stay continuously running long enough for that to happen.

No way. For a mechanical watch regulated to +2-2 yours is perfect, don't you think? Maybe reset it once a month if you wish, but OCD is controlling you. These are not battery quartz watches, I really don't know how you can expect anything better?

I get -2 a day usually so i set my watch 1 or 2 minutes fast and wait till it is one or two minutes slow, so i can usually go two or three months. If you want to be anal but not have to set you watch everyday just keep track each day with cumulative +1.5,+3,+4.5,..and so on.

Wait till you realize that you didnt get the minute hand completely centered on the minute market when the second hand is at 12, When you finally get that one right you will not want to touch it.

I watch it every once in awhile just to make sure the movement is preforming well and does not need any warranty work but that is just to see if it is within the +/- specs of Rolex. As long as it is running well and my time is in the right minute I don't worry about syncing the second hand with time.is

Yes you are, but hey its your watch do do with as you please

+1.5 per day is great. Within Rolex spec and fast is always better than slow.

I check mine every day or so (just out of interest) against the same time source, but basically only reset it when resetting the time after ts stopped (it gets worn in rotation with other watches)

I do, however, set it to the exact time when resetting it. I'm a stickler for detail

Last time I checked my 5513 was April 1980 just checked today its gained 1 hundredth of a millisecond in 37 years of continual running guys beat that one,I Treble checked it with my 25 different phone apps on 10 different phones, plus two radio controlled clocks and two atomic clock computer apps for confirmation to a thousandth of a second.Do you guys think I am getting {CCTS} constant checking time syndrome. But in the real world I check once a month or so, even then my wearing watch is seldom less than a minute out.

whenever they get to be a minute or two off. Coincidently my patek 5164 is within 30 seconds and the last time i even unscrewed the crown was about 10 months ago. It has a date pusher so no need to even fiddle with the crown on months with less than 31 days.

Honestly I don’t care much about it. Every now and then I’ll hack it to the USNO and see where it ends up but I wouldn’t be too anal about it.

And this is coming from a guy who flew for the military and had to be exactly on time.
