luminova or superluminova?
hello, I'm new to the forum, I just had my first Rolex, I have a few questions. I read on websites that light was luminova or superluminova, how to tell the difference?
mine stays on strong for a few minutes and then dims the light quickly I also measured an advance of 8s per day, is it serious? this is a 15210 from 2004. thank you in advance and apologize for my bad english 1664738020_Cropped.jpg 1108902511_Cropped.jpg |

There is only one patent for Luminova, held by Nemo, ltd.
The difference is in where it was made, not how it performs. In 1998 Nemo opened a shop in Switzerland, so from then on it is called SuperLuminova. luminova.jpg

I think that when your watch was made, it would have been described as having LumiNova on the dial and hands. LumiNova was first in the horological lexicon in the mid-1990’s. For Rolex, introduced at the end of the ‘90’s.
Super-LumiNova was trademarked in 2011 by LumiNova AG, in April, 2011. So unlikely Rolex used that trademark in any literature before then. https://trademarks.justia.com/790/98...-79098114.html The formulation is different for the different colors Larry showed but all covered by the same patent he mentioned. At the time your watch was made, only one color was in use at Rolex. So whether you call it LumiNova or Super-LumiNova is up to you. But the era correct name for your watch’s lume is LumiNova.
