"Good enough" loupes are basically free, if you want to get another one...

I have a really good Loupe Systems loupe but wanted another option -- a regular watchmaker's/jeweler's loupe and also the kind with the wire, so it's hands-free.

This worked well for me. I went on eBay, typed "watch loupe," set filters at "worldwide" item location (so it includes China) and "buy it now," and sorted results by "price: lowest to highest."

If you do this, you find that you can get 10x loupes from plenty of Chinese sellers for a whopping $1.05 USD, including shipping. They look like this:

And if you want the hands-free kind like this, it'll cost $3.71 including shipping:

You can get that from a US seller for $7, if you want the item faster.

All of those above are 10x.

Given how infrequently I use them, these super cheap loupes are just fine.

And as a general rule, I don't look at my own watches under magnification because that's just asking for trouble, as others have said. I only look at other people's watches under magnification. I got the loupes mainly for help with strap and bracelet changes/adjustments.

Also, this cheap, all-in-one 5x/10x/15x folding magnifier is great if I'm going to look at watches -- like at get-togethers or at used watch stores ($5.99 from US sellers):

Have to agree loupes timing apps and all the rest of today's high magnification in many cases will and can be a Rolex owners worst enemy.

just bought a BelOMO 10X Triplet with leather case. Good Amzn reviews and recommended by Austin Daniels.
