Need Help!
All, I have a great first world problem that I need help with in determining a new watch purchase to commemorate a successful year and my 40th birthday.
I have recently liquidated most of my collection due to various expenses on the home front. I’m down to a very sentimental Omega Speedmaster (sapphire sandwich) and a few Seiko divers. With that being said, I have about $8k left over and I want to get the most out of it! I want something versatile that will hold value. I’m thinking of the following, but open to other suggestions: Rolex Explorer 1 Rolex 39mm ref 114300 (white did) Omega Planet Ocean 39.5mm with black dial Omega Seamaster with blue dial Panerai Submersible: PAM00682 (42mm diver) Any other suggestions in the 6 to 8k range? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

There are few watches more versatile than the one in my avatar.
It can obviously be worn for dress, but the blue dial and steel works also with blue jeans or even shorts. It's never out of place.

Of the ones you’ve listed I prefer the Explorer, it’s a great all rounder

Anything Rolex and Stainless you can count on to hold value. Out of those I’d get the Explorer. Or you might consider a Submariner. (If you can get at retail)
If a Sub would be a consideration (If it were me) - you might consider waiting until Basel just to see what happens - and starting a dialogue with an AD now to prime the pump. Happy hunting! |

Good options. I'd go with one of the Rolexes you mentioned or maybe a Milgauss.

I like the Polar Explorer II or the Explorer II black dial. Take your pick they wear great for 42 mm and can be found in the range you want to spend, pre-owned.

Out of your list, I am going to go with the Rolex Explorer. I think it is a great all rounder, from a sports watch to something that is easily dressed up with a jacket and chinos. Good luck and let us know what you pick!
