Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2020

Anyone heading to the auction? I’ve never been but am pretty psyched about it.

Looking forward to seeing some incredible cars and I assume a great watch spotting environment.

I've never been but have watched or followed it from time to time over the years. Be sure to report back with what you see or end up buying

Ha! I’m hoping to escape unscathed. I’ve been through the muscle car and exotic car phase, makes collecting watches seem cheap to the wife

I’m guessing there will be a pretty solid variety.

Wow! Love the green dial GMT!

And you’re right about cars vs watches. Watches are much less costly to maintain. Enjoy the auction!

I went once. Good time. Wear comfy shoes. There’s some good buy opportunities and the local car dealers get in on the fun.

I’m supposed to go this year.

But I’m having trouble finding the time.

Nice trio. I have two out of the three and close to your YG Bluesy. Mine is a TT.

I have been many times. It’s a lot of fun to see all types of vintage, muscle and exotic cars. You could spend two days there easily.

Have a great trip.

My wife and I use to go every year when we lived out that direction. It was always a really great time. It’s almost unbelievable the size of the event. It’s a great time though, you will enjoy it.

Update. We made our way out yesterday. It’s quite a spectacle, had no idea the size and scope was so massive. You could stumble around forever

Nice. Looks like a great time. My wife and I really miss going. We use to go every year when we lived out there. Not sure about the color, but that Chiron is awesome.

I've owned a couple of muscle cars back in the Scat Pak days, including a 1968 Charger R/T 440 Magnum exactly like the one in Bullitt so I love these type of cars. Also I had friends who built and restored hot rods.

After watching a few of these auctions on TV over the years I always get the idea that they all seemed to be owned by retired contractors, oil guys, etc etc, guys with too much money and basically they collect a bunch of cars, rarely, if ever drive them, then when they get bored they sell them to exactly the same type of guys and the cars just moved to a different garage and collects dust until that guy gets bored.

Do you think, that's a wrong impression?

Honestly I think it’s just the sheer size of the operation. Much larger than I would have expected. So many vendors selling such a variety of goods and food etc.

It’s really hard to tell. There are a ton of more run of the mill cars outside that I assume run before the major coverage begins but the really top shelf pieces are probably trailer queens

That's pretty cool and certainly the right place to be selling just about anything Having watched this on TV only I never got a sense of that, or the size as you described.
