Is gold really that “flashy”
I usually daily my sd43 and over the last few weeks I started to miss wearing the gold sub. I’ve been wearing it daily now and felt like one way or the other, nobody notices our watches anyway. I cant help but wrist check everybody but that’s because I’m into watches. 99% percent of the time, as flashy as it may seem, it still goes unnoticed. Which I happen to love.
Here few wrist shots of the gold piece Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would say with the popularity of lower end "gold" watches on the rise they draw less attention than 5 years ago. As you said most people don't notice watches and those not in the know will just assume it isn't real gold.....which is how I would prefer it IMO.
Great watch and I would have no problem enjoying that piece out and about.

Yes.
Especially with the bracelet. But wear what you like. |

It draws attention so it limits when/where I can wear YG or RG. I stick to SS, PT or WG most of the time to better fly under the radar. Really wish Rolex would make a sub, GMT or something larger than the daytona in PT and that would be my daily beater.

Yes it is. But the only thing that matters is what you like to wear.

Looks great !
Flashiness is highly dependent on the context it’s worn in.

Agree. It’s a lot.
I have two gold pieces on rubber, and they are more subdued. But still have some serious bling to them. On bracelet it’s a game changer.

One of my grails. I love it. Just the right amount of flash.

Yes. Gold is VERY ‘flashy’-
My watches stay under my shirt cuff 85% of the time - so it’s not an issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Watches like Invicta have unfortunately taken some of the limelight away. I very seldom wear my gold sub anymore. Also my ceramic sub is 11 years old, had it serviced st Dallas RSC and it is pristine

I think the general public who aren’t into watches probably assumes gold watches are all fashion brands like Micheal Kors or something bought at a Macy’s. So maybe it may not be as flashy as we perceive it to be. Regardless I’m in the camp of unapologetically wearing what you like

I disagree completely. I think most people you come into contact with for more than 30 seconds notice your watch, ESPECIALLY if it's all (or mostly) gold. However, people are more reserved and much less likely to comment to strangers about their appearance/accoutrements nowadays, and I think that gives the impression they don't notice. But they do.

This is the truth. I often read where posters say "don't worry, most people can't tell the difference between a Michael Kors watch and a yellow gold Rolex". I don't believe this for a minute. I've also read countless times that nobody notices or cares about what watch you're wearing. Well, they may not care, but many people in everyday life can and do notice people wearing a (gold) Rolex. If I weren't retired, there would be no problem if my boss wore a solid gold watch. Hey, it's his money. I see plenty of soccer moms driving around in 60K full size SUV's. How and what others spend their money on is none of my business.

People absolutely notice, and its foolish to think otherwise.
Their chosen reaction to it is a psychological response with a mix of if you’re actually approachable or not. Some won’t acknowledge it just because it places them in the have not category (and judge you accordingly). Some will comment just to make you uncomfortable. (Think relating it to what other uses that money could go to) Some will generally admire with or without a nod. My (awesome) brother-in-law can’t fathom what I have on my wrist in comparison to what his financial situation is. He’s up to his neck in student debt, living with roommates, he’s 27. His snap judgement on the watch is exactly the same as everyone else, with varying results based on what THEY have going on. Took me a while to understand this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
