Cannot understand why are you ashamed of your watch, and you will be the same person no matter the watch you are wearing.

Coming out is sometimes the best thing. Accept who you are and let the real you shine through. And yeah show off the watch too....

You should never feel ashamed of showing off your rolex. It's a trademark of how hard you work to earn it.

Yeah ... let er loose. The reality is, most people don't even notice at all. And if they do, they're clueless as to what it is. Especially if you work with a younger group of people.

Why would you hide it? You need to show your employer that they made the right decision in hiring a baller. And your ballerness will set an example for other employees to achieve said level of ballerness.

Many people do not notice your watch. Once, I saw my office-mate looking at Rolex watches online. We talked and he asked me about the SkyDweller and its functions. I carefully explained it to him, even pointing at his monitor a few while standing behind him. He never noticed I was wearing a SkyD.

When I wear my Rolex almost nobody noticed or cared, you might overthink your Rolex thing. My Seiko turtle PADI with Jubilee bracelet got the most "nice Rolex" and my ex-boss recognised my orange Omega PO incorrectly as James Bond watch...But most will notice a red Ferrari LOL

If it's the only way to get a pay rise and/or a promotion, by all means be my guest and sow it off. But seriously I doubt they'll notice.

I think it depends on the position. If you're management and employ low paid hourly people, I feel it's best not to rub it in. If you're around other professionals, by all means.....rock the wrist!

You are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Nobody notices nor cares what people have on their wrists. It is just a watch.

Before I was into watches I never noticed watches on the wrist of people. Or, I noticed but just did not care or said anything because I thought most of them were ugly.

Afterwards I realised that the ugly thing with green crystal and strange second hand was a Millgauss, that oversized monster that looked horribly out of place with a shirt was some special edition Panerai. Or the one that had been screwed together from the top with gold screws was a vintage Royal Oak.

Perhaps you can get your colleagues interested in the hobby as my colleagues sucked me in.

It was a month and a half until I was made at work. T-shirt and jeans daily, plant environment, engineering role. Someone checked the time as we were leaning on a railing and his eyes got big. Not a word was said, I just nodded.

If I remember the OP posted previously starting a new entry level position in a professional setting and inquired whether it was setting a perception for a young entry level wearing a Rolex.

Good on you OP enjoy at your new job.

The only other people that will notice are people who are also into watches, which usually sparks a friendly convo...... Most other people wont even know what it is

if you think a sub date is considered "showing off" in NYC then you are more small-time than you think......
