This is such a hard choice! If I can only pick one, I would go for a sub!

Well, at least it's a clear Micro-agression, and so more data for my hypothesis/ground-breaking study. Cool. Thanks Ace!

Think we're pretty equally split from all the responses haha! Anyone think getting the Sub when it comes along and then flipping it for a GMT later on is a good option? How well would the Sub retain its value if that is the case?

Whichever one becomes available first, nab it.

Then if you feel like you need another watch after wearing it for awhile, get the other one.

And wow...some of you obviously feel very strongly about this. You do realize it's a watch forum, right?

GMT for me, but that’s because I travel a lot for work and I like easily figuring out when to call my family at home. I have one of each (114060 sub) and honestly other than the gmt complication or the depth rating, they are more or less interchangeable. So basically I guess, you should get the one that comes available first.

I vote for Both
I was in same Dilemma a few weeks ago, so I ended up thinning my watch collection and got both a subC date and blnr.

I got the Sub first but kind of wish I got a GMT instead. Would have been more useful.

If you can somehow try them on to compare, see which your eyes are drawn to most. That's how I decided.

I was able to try a few on and I followed my gut, chose a sub ND. When I did put on the batman though, it looked incredible, I decided it will be my second purchase one day...

If I were to have only one Rolex, it would be the BLNR. Perfect balance of color, sparkle and functionality. Sub is fantastic ( my bluesy served me as the one and only watch for almost 10 years), but BLNR is the perfect balance.

All-around BLNR is the best choice if you are a one-watch guy.

I went through the same situation. After a lot of reading and getting to try on both the SubC date and the BLNR, I decided I wanted the BLNR.

In my multi-month search for a BLNR, I happened to visit an AD that had a SubC date that had just arrived and was unspoken for. Since I hadn’t seen one available for sale in several months and multiple visits to seven ADs, I decided to pick it up. I didn’t think I’d find a BLNR in the near future.

I wasn’t loving the SubC date, mostly because of how elevated off the wrist it is with the bulging caseback.

Of course, I continued my search for the BLNR and came across one within three weeks!

Now this was the watch for me! I actually don’t mind the PCLs now — they offer some contrast at the expense of some blinginess. Not looking forward to scratching them up though.

The splash of blue is appealing to me. It changes color in the light and can look black at times.

After getting the BLNR, I actually have a newfound appreciation for the the SubC date. Its neutral color scheme and brushed bracelet are more under the radar. I’m starting to get used to how high it sits on the wrist compared to the BLNR. Some days I just feel like wearing the Sub.

Honestly though, if I had found the BLNR first I wouldn’t have gotten the Sub.

The last true sports model made by Rolex. You did good.

The 5 digits wear like lightweight butter - I traded a 114060 for my 14060M 4 liner.

I'd hop on the list for both then decide which one you like most!

Sub date is iconic.

BLNR is more unique. Sometimes I don’t want blue, so I found it to be less versatile.

I love GMTs because I use the complication when traveling.

Both are excellent choices. I’ve had both. Right now I have several other GMTs, but not a BLNR. And I always have a sub in the collection. Wearing the 116610 on straps today.

Happy hunting!
