Trading dilemma: my 114060 for a polar 216570?

Howdy guys!

I have an opportunity to trade my 2015 submariner 114060 for a 2 month old polar exp ii. Would I be a dummy to do this? I’ve always wanted a polar exp ii

Also, I’m a one watch guy. This will be worn with suits, t shirts, everything.

Get both! Or I’d keep the 114060. It’s more versatile and it’s a true classic

Polar is less common.
Are you a diver or an explorist? ;)

The fact that you're asking means you want to do it and are just looking for affirmation. I say go for it.

If you like the Polar go ahead , personally I'd keep the 114060.

Trading dilemma: my 114060 for a polar 216570?

I’ve owned a black explorer ii but never a polar.

Here is my wrist with the black 216570 and my 114060

I made that move. Except it was for a black dial 216570. It's a great watch. Super comfortable. Easy to read. It's tough for an only watch. I don't wear a suit that much, but it's hard to dress the 216570 up.

I went back to the 114060 and currently have it. I use the bezel to time things, I prefer the clean look of the dial also. The Glidelock is a bonus, although the Easylink is no slouch.

Keep the 114060.

I think the sub is more versatile, and the glide lock is such a huge benefit

The SubC will cost you more to reacquire should you change your mind. It is not really an even trade.

Go ahead. If you get tired of the polar, you can easily flip it and buy another watch you want. Life is too short and beautiful watches too many .

I own and love both, if I could only keep one it would be the Polar as it has become my daily wearer.

Go for it because:

It’s almost the mirror opposite of what you’re wearing — going from black to white dial, no-date to date + GMT, rotating bezel to non. You’ll enjoy the change.

Also, if you do the trade, you would have enjoyed two watches for the price of one.

Have both. Prefer the 114060 if it was my only watch. Much more versatile.

Get the Explorer II, it’s one of my favorite watches in my collection.

The size, dial color, brushed bracelet, lume and GMT just make it an all around winner IMHO.

I would go ahead and get the watch u want, life too short. If u fall out of love with it and miss the subC then u can repurchase it down the road. At least u know u tired it out and never have a wondering mind. Only cost of the lesson is some cash and a piece of mind.

Had the dilemma of getting one of these two, 2 months ago.

Had the the 114060 and sold it.
However I went again for the 114060.

Polar Exp II is a great watch but as others said, hard to dress up.
Great looks and I like the GMT complication.

If you are a one a watch guy, go for the Sub.

Wouldn‘t do it. Never had the 216570, but 16570 and 114060. Wouldn‘t have made the switch back then and don‘t think I‘d trade my 114060, now.

I would definitely go for a Polar, but only if you can keep the Sub too. I suspect that if you trade, you'll be missing your Sub after awhile and wished you still had it. If it's not feasible to have both, I would personally not do this trade.

I see the Polar as an add, not a replace. I think for a one watch for every situation, it's hard to beat a sub.

Being a one watch guy puts a whole new spin on things...frankly, I don't see how you guys do it.

I have owned both and would definitely recommend keeping the 114060. It is damn near the perfect watch....especially if you're a one watch guy.

I have owned that Polar Explorer and currently own the 114060. I definitely would not replace the Sub.IMO, the 114060 has more staying power, a classic timeless piece. I thinks it’s more versatile than the 216570.

Personally, the bigger hour markers and hands of the 216570 started to bother me after awhile; the watch started to look a bit cartoonish to me. If you love the looks of the 216570, I’d add it, rather than replace the Submariner.

I have the 114060 and am interested in the Explorer as well. However, I prefer the older reference because I don't like the fatter numerals on the bezel of the current Explorer. I also don't like that it increased to 42mm. 40mm is the absolute max size watch I would wear, and the only reason I do wear a 40 is because that is the size of the Submariner. I have considered trading the 114060 for a 14060, but I like the bracelet and engraved bezel too much to let it go. I don't care for the maxi case compared to the 5-digit sub though.
In any event, I would not trade my sub for an Explorer, but I might add a 5-digit one.
