20JUL69 1st footprints on the moon
Getting the jump on the anniversary.... Apollo 11 launched from Cape Kennedy on July 16, 1969, 09:32 am EDT; Nearing the Moon, the descent engine continued to provide braking thrust until about 102 hours, 45 minutes into the mission. Partially piloted manually by Armstrong, the Eagle landed in the Sea of Tranquility in Site 2 at 0 degrees, 41 minutes, 15 seconds north latitude and 23 degrees, 26 minutes east longitude. At about 109 hours, 42 minutes after launch, Armstrong stepped onto the moon, with “…one small step for man…” About 20 minutes later, Aldrin followed him. [wearing his Omega Speedmaster! --Neil’s remained “on-duty” in the LEM].
I am fortunate with this ‘older cousin,’ 1058 movements earlier than Neil’s 105.012-65 with JB Champion Mesh Bracelet. I honor the Apollo 11 Crew’s anniversary with a glorious Romeo Y Julieta, Habano. Colonel 58

July 20, 1969.... I remember it well as July 20 is my wife's birthday and we sat around the TV to see all we could see that day. Today we are celebrating her 71st! Cheers, Bill P.

Here's a link of where the NASA worn Speedy watches are now: http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/omega.html
Perhaps some have not seen it. I found it interesting and wanted to share. Wonder where Buzz Aldrin's landed? MIA. |
