Planet Ocean liquidmetal ltd edition value increasing

Have just seen a omega liquid metal ltd edition sell for £4500 pounds on eBay that's 7000 dollars. Incredible. I'm the proud owner of a liquidmetal and the manager of the Omega boutique westfield told me this will be one of the most sort after Omegas ever and had heard of them changing hands for silly money

I'd expect them to flatten out in price a little, but certainly you'll see them gain ground for the time being!

Enjoy yours, it's a great watch!

Please forgive the stoopid query, but what is the difference between the LM bezel and the "regular"? I have the PO black and I know the bezel is grey whilst the LM bezel is black(er). But what is the difference between how the numbers are effectuated (Howard Cosell word) in each version?

I saw that as well, and the price just went nuts in the last few hours, could very well be shill bidding. There was one guy (the winner) who had automatic bids turned on, and his maximum was obviously pretty stratospheric.

They are holding their value very well, though....DavidSW had one up at $5875 a week or so ago and it sold within a few hours.

Liquidmetal is used for the markers/numbers of the ceramic bezel for the cal. 2500 Planet Liquid Metal Limited Edition and the cal. 8500 Ti Liquidmetal Planet Ocean only.

The Planet Oceans and the SMPs with ceramic bezels use chromium nitride for the markers/numbers.

Interesting. Hope the guys at Westfield Omega boutique gets it right this time...

If so, it'd probably the first limited edition piece that is doing what Omega wanted in the first place

I do hope they hold their value. I was the one that bought David's.

Actually there are only two... One in Germany, and the one that a guy bought to resell... It has been for sale for about a month, but he is in Kuala Lumpur...

I have no idea why his is not selling, he's down to 5650 now...

Love that watch. I saw the ones on Chrono24 but when that site says trusted seller can I trust them?

I think even with a trusted one you need to deal cautiously ,but if you did your due diligence and the price fits why not?

Yea that's not really representative. What you need to realize is that the euro has absolutely tanked recently, and as a result you can currently buy watches off european eBay sites in euros for in some cases 20% under market value, as when they priced the piece in euro it was probably around $6500 USD or so, but since it hadn't sold yet (not surprising given Europe's economy is in the toilet) the seller has kept the price, while your buying power in USD has increased.

Market value for this is still $6,500+ BNIB, buying in Euros is just a great way to cheat the market on everything (including vintage Rolex) atm.

I don't know as to the purchasing of said watches via Chrono24 overseas. Unless I can be for sure of the seller there have been many horror stories. Ebay is definitely still a good source as you are somewhat covered in a way.

Likely a bit risky for most folks - 'fear of fakery' - always a risk from the masters in Asia.

Also would incur heavy duty costs.

hmm, thats odd, i don see the prices for this watch going anyway upwards.

btw, if anyone is interested, you could still get BN ones for about USD$5.6-5.7, which was more or less the original retail price a few years back.

ah my bad. i was refering to BNIBs, i.e people who buy and kep them intact so that they could resell, thinking that the prices would go up.

Doh! - I detect a bit of tongue in cheek in your post!

Let's be honest we would all love the nirvana that is owning a watch purchased from an AD which might actually become a financial asset - lets face it, this doesn't happen often in the Omega brand.

There have been recent examples where the PO LM LE has sold used well over the original cost. I think this trend will continue in small measures but it's not as if we have won the lottery - is it?

I reckon that if had to liquidate mine tomorrow I would achieve £4k/$5k without too much difficulty.

I never bought it with that thought in mind but as I'm now getting the itch it's good to know how much is in the kitty.

Maybe true, but this time I actually found a watch I want to keep. I have gone through way too many but this one 'sings'.
