About to join the Omega family

After 2 years of on/off searching for my first decent watches, I'm about to take the plunge and couldn't be more excited. I'm going to be getting 3 watches to 'start' my collection. I have a lot of love for individual watches by other brands (IWC Portuguese 7 Day Reserve is the grail) but for me, Omega is the best bang for your buck in the pre-owned world, if you aren't a stickler for in house movements. They also happen to make a hell of a lot of nice looking watches.

I'll be getting this as my 'do it all' watch, will buy on bracelet and get the OEM brown strap/deployant to change it up- it looks sooo nice on that. Have gone back and forth sooo many times on hesalite vs. sapphire, I cannot help but lean towards sapphire.

To change up on weekdays, weekend wear:

42MM PO with the 2500D movement. Don't care for the ceramic bezel on the new model, and it's too freaking thick and heavy. I wear dress shirts for work, don't want the hassle of it catching on my sleeves routinely. The older PO is IMO the perfect diver, and it's a steal compared to the Submariner.

And for dressier occasions:

I'm sure on the others- not completely sold on this yet. Love it, love the pie pan variations, but the vintage mine field is a tough one. And, there are a plethora of decent options out there for a simple vintage dress watch.

Great forum, this has been an extremely helpful place to get learn about the brand/watches in general.

The one you have in the 1st picture is a hesalite. Be sure you like the way the light plays with the sapphire in comparison to the hesalite.

Agreed. That high of a dome on a sapphire crystal forms a white ring around the edges when viewed straight on. Guys in the vintage Rolex section have a saying "Plexi (hesalite) is Sexy". That's absolutely true for a Speedy as well.

There's just something special about looking at a hesalite Speedy Pro in the sun light.
