Rolex in Reykjavik!

A photo of the window display from what I presume to be Iceland's only Rolex AD. Prices are interesting: the 116710LN GMT IIc is about £200 more than UK list price by the time you convert the currencies; the 116520 Daytona, on the other hand, is over £1,000 more!

This only the second time that I have ever seen a steel Daytona on display. At that price, though, I'm probably not surprised!

P.S. Sorry for the poor quality photo. There's so much daylight here at the moment that it's almost impossible to shoot anything through glass!

Looks like they are not afraid to show and sell their sports models.

You mean there is somewhere in this world more expensive than the UK?

You really should visit JS Watch Company while you are there. Great little company that produces beautiful watches for excellent prices.

If it's the same as all other items, it's 14%. This actually makes the GMT IIc a really good purchase! The green Sub also works out very cheap after the 14% comes off. Before that it's about £190 more than the UK price...after discount it's £685 less!

Had a look in their window a couple of times, but not been in yet. I'm heading home tomorrow afternoon, so I will see if we have time in the morning. Probably unlikely I'm going to manage, though, unfortunately...

It's a fantastic place to visit! I was actually quite surprised to find watches that were made here. There is also a much cheaper company putting Japanese and Chinese automatic movements into their own cases and selling the results for about £150 upwards, complete with Reykjavik on the dial!

Could someone please tell the ISK on the price tags for e.g. the LV and BLNR? I can't tell from where I am sitting now at this picture.

The LV is 1,279,000Kr. The steel GMT IIc is an LN. It costs 1,190,000Kr. The Daytona is 1,850,000Kr. Helps when you have a higher resolution available!

Thanks. That makes the LV cost exactly the same as in Norway. However, deducting 14% VAT on Island - and adding 25% to Norway - render buying Rolex at Icelend pointless for Norwegians. Unfortunately.

For completeness, here's a shot of the store front a few moments ago. Both Rolex and Tudor logos prominently displayed. No Rolexes in the case today as they're doing work in the window to redecorate or something and the door is open. No Tudor cabinet in the window, despite the logo!

Incidentally, the tax rate is actually 24%, not 14%. I just checked when my girlfriend collected some tax refunds from the bank at Keflavik Airport.

Ha ha. I opened the thread and almost fell out of my chair when I looked at the picture.. I didn’t immediately realize it was a 3 year old thread. Indeed, how times have changed.
