I fly 100k+ miles per year - never take my watch off for the millimeter wave scanners, and don't recall when was the last time they asked me to take it off for a regular metal detector.

i travel with 3 minimum. They are all in my bag in a 3 watch case. I do not put a watch on until i am past security that way i keep an eye on my bag and nothing else, and no one saw what i put in it. in the cab on the way to the airport the one im wearing that day gets removed.

Thanks again everyone, I have never thought to keep my watch on while going through Security, may try that on my next trip.

That being said, I don't loosely place it in the bin either, usually I take it off and place it in something (soft pouch or cloth) inside my briefcase that goes through the scanner.

Largely depends on where I am going. Usually 1-2 depending on the duration I am going for and what kind of events I am attending. I am not crazy about bringing more than 2 for security issues.

I travel with my 16570 on bracelet or NATO. No one bats an eye at it, and I get to wear my favourite watch on with all the benefits of a jump hour gmt

Dont you worry. If you encounter a thread, all you need for self defense is a PENCIL!
If you're John Wick, maybe.

I travel with my Rolex GMT Master II BLRO on my wrist. I suppose if I were going to an area I thought was too sketchy I would wear a bandana on my wrist covering my watch.

No, but lots of security at international airports outside the US ask you to remove your watch.
Easy to say never remove your watch. In practise your destinations become very limited

i always remove because its ok to keep it on, until it isn't. Then you have a hurried moment in the security queue where you end up putting your watch somewhere you dont want to and that is when something is going to happen.

Have been asked to take my watch off before so as far as im concerned it will happen every time. I take that out of the equation before setting foot in the airport and its safely in my bag. I dont wear my belt either. Why bother? Just put it on post security.

I say. Bring it and Enjoy it.

I brought my Daytona C on my cruise to Caribbean and every watch place was clamoring over it.

I say typically a SS watch is great for travel: Best Travel watch SS SkyD any face. Can’t beat that dual time zone, and not as flashy as YG.

Or a GMT

I travel several times a year. Just got back from Caribbean and took white gold sub (smurf). I will travel with up to two Rolex. Be aware of surroundings and I have never had a problem.

I find it more worrisome taking care of my cameras that might cost as much as the watch. The wife's jewelry is worth more than my watch too

Put it in a travel pouch & put that in your carry on before you get to the security check point. Once through you're good to go..

Yeah nyc will be absolutely fine. It’s a major watch capital and you will see Rolexes everywhere as well as many other haute horology brands

Do yourself a favor and just take the one on your wrist, taking others will only become worrisome and burdensome. It took me years to figure this out.

Picked up a Todor Black Bay as a (rather expensive) beater watch. Put it on a Everest rubber strap and it has become my regular travel watch. I find it to be a perfect under-the-radar watch to wear on travel or in any situation where I may not want to wear a Rolex. Most folks have no idea what Tudor is and how expensive they are and that suits me just fine!

Punta Cana this past July:

I like to wear President with Gold bracelet when traveling

Most people know this as a Rich man's watch

I get my flight seat upgraded and the stewardess sit on my lap :)

Sometimes I get her to follow me to the 5 star hotel suite

I've worn a Rolex every day for years. I alternate them but every day one is on my wrist. Travel included, I've never had an issue. Very few people notice or care about our watches as much as we do.

This is likely true, people are more likely to notice a new tie than a new watch in my office.

Oh goody...this discussion again.

The conclusion is that you don't ever have to take your watch off for security except at the places where you are absolutely required to in order to get through security. My experience is 95% leave it on, 5% being ordered to take it off.

I travel all of the world with mine. I would never bring more than the one on my wrist but then I'm a minimalist. My passions take me to off the beaten track places at times and I've never been concerned about theft. But hey, worry isn't my thing. Life is too precious to spend one second worrying about things like that. They're just watches. Go forth and wear it.
