I agree. That's a classic and the prices I saw on Google are in $2,000 to $3000 range and I didn't look far.

I'm of the opinion if you don't wear it/use it/enjoy it, then get rid of it. Price is irrelevant. Sell it for $20 and at least you've paid for a nice lunch.

My whole thing is I either wear it or I sell it regardless of the price point.

I actually have a few Swatch's and some other pieces that are nothing to speak of that are collecting dust. Time to go!

I've bought inexpensive watches (entry level Seiko, Hamilton, Bulova). It always seemed like a good idea at the time, but after a couple of weeks I stop wearing them. And, sure, they don't take up a lot of space, but I see no reason to keep something I'm not using and that I can turn into cash, so I sell them.

I say sell them. You'll make a little money and you'll provide some happiness to someone else who may really enjoy the piece.

OTOH, if you know someone who is interested in horology but doesn't know where to start or doesn't have the budget to buy something on the more expensive side, it would also make a nice gift for that person.

First thank you all for the continued feedback. I sold the Seiko Sport 5 Turtle as it was too big for me and I think I wore it maybe once since I bought it. I am keeping the two Timex watches and the Gruen.

I spent MUCH less than $2 - 3k for the Gruen and it is fully services. It is not the oversized model which might be why it was so inexpensive.

Have to agree Bas and like all watches they have one function only, to tell the time on the wrist. Most all watches today from a Alpha to everyday Seiko, or Miyota powered ones even the many Chinese watches, and today's so called high end brands.They all have there place in today's horological world,but many dont wear the watch, many just wear the brand.

I rather like "cheap" watches and regularly wear mine. I buy watches I like, wear them and get as much pleasure wearing them as one of my more expensive watches.

Case in point this old Timex found years ago in a box of watch parts bought off fleabay. Still ticking after god knows how many decades and still only gains around 5 seconds a day.

After all the main function of a watch is to tell the time not let the world know how rich the wearer is.

The "cheap" watches in question are a Timex Marlin and Q as well as a Gruen Curvex. I might just hold on to them for the kids.

I too have a manual wind Timex Marlin that I want to sell.

It’s a lovely watch, but I just don’t use it. I think it’s a little to dressy for me.

I prefer to wear my skx if I don’t want to wear something pricey.

I’ve thought of giving the watch to someone young that is starting to get into watches, but I don’t know anyone :(

So I might post it for sale on Craigslist and see what happens

I have a couple less expensive brands from many years ago (20+), I just keep them in a drawer for nostalgia sake. They don’t take up much room :)
The one cheap watch I make use of quite often is a G-Shock. Comes in handy when doing physical tasks that put my watch in potential damage situations.
As far as Rolex or other expensive brands....if I’m not wearing them...move ‘em along.

An all black Nixon Time Teller P is still is my rotation. I cannot for the life of me understand why I like the watch...but I do and it has a place among my Rolex.

Slight twist on the question...what about an inexpensive watch that doesn’t work any more, and isn’t worth fixing? I have a 15 year old Hamilton, for instance, that fits the bill. My thought is to donate it to the Salvation Army etc.
