Mo-Fi Records
Hello all,
For those of you that listen to vinyl records, what is your opinion of pressings by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab? Are they worth the premium? Thanks in advance for your input. Cheers |

I used to be big into their CD's.

Imho yes their vinyl LPs are worth it. You get better mastering, higher quality vinyl formulation, plus more careful pressing and higher QC too. Cover art is also higher quality too.

I'm not a fan... While some of their titles can sound decent, I've been really disappointed by many of them.

Remastering original audio is an artform like colorizing monochrome movies of old.
Some will like the original vs. the newer work. But the price differential isn’t what some feel worthwhile. In 10 years you won’t care as another tech may do better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I have one MoFi record in my collection and it's very disappointing... The Weezer Blue Album. Low volume, over bloated bass. Just really bad.
And I'm no stranger to expensive remasters. I love the Music Matters jazz releases, as well as Impex. Probably my two best sounding records are Impex - both Thelonious Monk. But the one MoFi record I have... |

it's the mastering they do... it may times ruins the original release.
even their 1/2 speed masters are terrible in many instances. |
